What is wionews?
You don't become septic overnight because of a kidney stone generally, usually there are signs of not taking care of yourself that leads to this kind of outcome. The person usually would be a badly managed diabetic or similar to even get close to this outcome.
If you are going to cancel over a sensationalistic article on a weird ass website ... you might be acting like a scared sheeple. That website looks like most scare tactic information lite kind of websites used to herd sheeple of the right leaning persuasion. Is this woman real, or just posed for sensationalistic photos to influence the gullible? I'm asking as I have met people in RL who have the amputations described on their legs, but not their arms.
ETA - The woman wrote on Facebook is at the end of the article. Makes me more suspicious. FB scam for $$?

mediabiasfactcheck.com/wion-world-one-news/#Failed%20Fact%20ChecksOverall, we rate WION as Least Biased based on reasonably balanced editorial positions and minimal use of loaded language in news reporting. We also rate them Mixed for factual reporting due to a lack of hyperlinked sourcing in most articles and the promotion of misinformation regarding Covid-19. I generally prefer written. I just remembered seeing the story on the CNN site and it happened to be video. I did not watch it to the very end but what i saw was a woman telling a first person positive, upbeat story. Truth? EDIT: the Lex 18 in the video apparently is the Lexington NBC affiliate.

Very interesting video choices. Source is Lex 18. I'd be surprised if a regular news outlet would artistically put photos in leaves and on the ground to make a video on this. It could be Lexington KY, but very unusual composition compared to all the NJ/NY and Chicago stations I have watched over the years.

Could be legit, could be scam. Not willing to do any more research on it as I don't need rabbit holes especially now.

I knew someone in high school who had a septic infection and had all four limbs amputated. He ended up dying about a year later from complications (I don't know what, this is all learned from common FB friends). I'd rather just go in peace. I had a good life.

I forgot to order one of dh's Christmas presents. I made him a journal with a custom cover that says infection- sepsis- death. He works in icu in a vet hospital so a lot of his waking hours track and its like his tag line.
Truly heartbreaking. I can't imagine how one adjusts.

I hope my children will forgive me if I decline to hang on in such a state. But I just couldn't face that.

I had a good life. my first Director ended up with a full leg amputation after contracting a necrotizing bacteria after a motorcycle accident. he was divorced by this point, and his kids made the decision for him as he was in a coma. I'm not sure how much of the hip was taken, but definitely some of it. I haven't seen him since I left the company 8+ years ago, but I can't fathom this active man losing his leg. he was the class clown of our company softball team, and just as into it as those of us 15-20y younger than him. I'm happy he's still around, and hope to cross paths with him again at some point.

I also just found this story that I couldn't quickly find when I first commented. linkI remember reading about Monica in the Boston Globe magazine spread on her, about a year after she came home from losing all four limbs. I think the magazine article is likely paywall blocked, so I linked this other one. she went in to the hospital to deliver by C-section and contracted necrotizing fasciitis and left with all four limbs amputated in varying degrees.

That's such a terrible thing to happen, but I think it's pretty rare. My 9yo daughter had an open compound fracture of her arm this year (the bone came out through her skin), and I was TERRIFIED of her getting an infection or some sort of necrotizing bacteria (a la Alex Smith, NFL quarterback). The children's hospital cleaned it all out while setting her bones, pumped her full of IV antibiotics, and monitored her for 24 hours before she was allowed to go home. Thankfully, no infection and she's all healed up now.

Guys/gals, we're barely into '24 and I've already had enough of the name calling. Knock it off.

Well, sometimes, you have to take your chances.
I had open skin on my body about 2/3rds of the way into my radiation treatment. Went somewhat under the knife for my port insertion. Had the lumpectomy...so surgery..enough where I did have to do the special wash several times.
It will be 3 years in March of 24 since my diagnosis.
Still cancer free.
Which I would prefer over having metastatic cancer.
Now, I didn't realize that I had a work colleague that died of breast cancer. She chose to fight the cancer by seeing Tony Robinson, drinking all sorts of health shakes, and doing yoga.
I never was privy to her diagnosis. She was young, in her early 50s. So, I don't know if she was Stage IV when she was diagnosed.
I just don't understand the choice. Rates right up there with my mom thinking that prayer will cure my dad's Stage IV cancer.

I also had a cyst removed from ovary. The folks that did the medical transcription switched around the ovary that my cyst was on.
Right when I was counting down, the dr was going through the procedure, and I told him he got the ovary wrong. Then I told him. "Well, you should be fairly smart as a dr. I'll trust that if you don't see the cyst on one ovary, you'll look for it on the other one."
We figured out the transcription error in my post op check up.

I had completely torn the tendon that attached my quad muscle to my knee. In the pre-op for surgery to have it tied back on, the doctor signed his name on the leg he was going to cut. Asked me twice to confirm it was the leg that he needed to fix.

My brother wrote on the leg/hip for replacement. He had 3 hip replacements and the last one wasn't good from the start.

Now you all know why I had to get the hell out of dodge when my hips got infected. It didn’t take much digging, but this was the same facility where I was at. That hospital staff scared the shit out of me.
For instance, my 3x/day antibiotic infusions didn’t always happen, despite me asking. The hospital has an abysmal infection control record, I don’t know anyone who has had surgery there that hasn’t wound up with a secondary infection. That’s why I refused to get any of my joint replacements there.

I left there against medical advice.
