Florida is rejecting $320 million in federal funding to reduce emissions, calling it 'politicization of our roadways'
Florida state officials have turned down an influx of $320 million of federal dollars to address infrastructure and emissions, claiming the money is politicized because it's meant to address climate change.
Jared Perdue, the secretary of Florida's Department of Transportation, informed the agency's federal counterpart in November that the state will decline the funds, the Tampa Bay Times reported. The FDOT quietly removed a "Carbon Reduction Strategy," which was a requirement for the federal dollars, from its website, the newspaper reported.
Gov. DeSantis proposed spending $14.5 billion for transportation projects in the next fiscal year.www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/florida-is-rejecting-320-million-in-federal-funding-to-reduce-emissions-calling-it-politicization-of-our-roadways/ar-AA1lE2Rr?cvid=dc68bbe0befb4fde866c6ba42a3f7347&ei=59Thoughts? At the very least it probably means FL air will be less healthy than other states in the near future.

Just doing their part to bring down the budget deficit. I applaud them for actually following through on their principles instead of taking money while denouncing the policy. What’s a little air pollution when you can save your soul

What’s a little air pollution when you can save your soul The only problem with some forms of air pollution is we all get to enjoy it whether we want to or not. This year during the worst of the Canadian wildfire smoke I was walking half a mile one way back and forth to the bus. I did not have a new stack of N95 or KN95 masks and it was an experience. Code yellow, code orange, and a touch of code red. I now have an idea what people in CA have experienced in bad fire seasons.

The area of Florida we lived in had a cellulose plant on the island. (We would frequently see trucks going through town loaded with pine logs.) What I didn't know, until after we moved, that those who live close to the plant seem to be having problems with lung cancer. And yes, when the wind was blowing "just right", you could smell whatever was coming from the plant. IMHO, the Southern states really don't give a darn about environmental hazards, as long as someone is making money...

(My dad has us tour a paper manufacturer with him once. IDK if it was attached to a vacation.)

$320M is a pittance. Trump will lose a similar amount in court this week.
