I saw this news story today. They raided this guys home and found 50lbs of fentanyl pills. He was processed and then released according to state law. We are a sanctuary state. He's a illegal alien. LOL... He didn't show up for his court date.

Rip, not up to reading your particular link. Not too long ago, some babies, i.e. human babies less than a year old died at a daycare in NYC. It was later discovered that fentanyl was stored under where these children played. And to my knowledge, the person ultimately responsible fled NYC and has yet to be found and charged for the deaths of these kids. The horror of finding out your baby died of fentanyl poisoning and there was nothing you as a parent could do about had to be awful. It was a landlord/home daycare business situation. The daycare provider claimed she did not know fentanyl was hidden on the property. However, she did not call immediately when the kids were in severe medical distress, so her guilt is for the courts to decide.

If there is demand, there will be supply. We aren't going to solve anything by incarceration of drug dealers. Money is better spent on beds in rehab facilities than prisons.

Remember when Trump was president and all the drug use disappeared? When he built that beautiful wall and kept all the dirty illegals out? When gas was a dollar and there was no such thing as trans people??
Used to be, when I watched Fox News, there was not a single story about illegal immigrant criminals. Now that’s half the stories on there!
Can’t wait for Trump to get reelected so we can return to that glorious time!!!
(My eyes rolled back so far I can see people standing behind me).

If you watch faux news you might believe if they don't report on it, it does not exist. Going to post a story that may or may not show up in the Faux Right news circles.

You are missing a lot of the story. He was booked on outstanding warrants. We don't know if they were for jaywalking or murder. The fact he was released sounds like they were minor crimes. The case was referred to the Feds. Someone fucked up and didn't file the charges in time. It takes time to process the paperwork.

If they would have FOLLOWED THE LAW AND GOT HERE LEGALLY they wouldn't have to commit crimes to pay off the cost of getting here.

You're right. It does not prevent them from committing crimes. It would prevent them from committing future crimes if they were in custody.

Tenn, I have met and talked to a few women from Africa. I understand why you would try to leave there any way you could. That doing so legally in advance is asking too much.
When you wonder is this the day they burst into our home and shoot us all dead? ... would be motivating. Especially if in some cases, they had just wiped out part of your extended family. Ministers hiding up to twenty women in their bathroom while trying to do a version of Harriet Tubman's underground railroad to get the safely out of the country.
I've only spoken to some of those who made it. I'm not up to today learning about the stories of those who did not. (And off to happy puppy pics and breakfast to un upset my stomach)

See Rip this is the mindset around here For some reason Scgal's post made me think of Les Misérables and "At the end of the day" started playing in my head. And yeah, I read the book by Victor Hugo years before I ever saw the musical. Damn liberal arts education...

Because you totally should follow the law if you are employed against your will by criminals. x 1000

I am thinking there is a large swath of privileged conservatives that are unaware of the black, brown, white and sexual slavery going on in the USA now. Let alone, how bad things are or what can happen to underfunded people on our great planet.

Some might be somewhat aware, but you are now talking about QANoners and those who believe others out there are even worse than themselves. And must be stopped. I think Rip really does not know. I think scgal might know, but is in denial cuz ... don't take my guns dammit.

I actually listened to most of a press briefing on CBS because my level of cable tV coverage is basic, and I can't see my fave more fluffy soap opera(s) on the laptop. The only live I am allowed is lunchtime news which can include press conferences.
On the Israel Hamas war.
