This organization was mentioned at church today, and is not yet rated by Charity navigator, but I was told has existed in some from in NJ since 1994. coalitionforanimals.org/In my well funded engineering and IT days post college I supported World Wildlife Fund and related organizations. I hope people will choose to post in this thread cool charities they either donate to or do the time and talent thing for. On my list is the charity announced on this years dog show. Something about helping abused humans and their dogs during bad domestic times when they must flee the household.

Best Friends Animal SanctuaryThey do good work for animals, and the folks who run the organization do not line their own pockets with donors' money.

I better mention these guys then even though I am no longer involved. I was heavily involved in parts of that past. Had PT weekend job etc. when it was working on becoming a 501 3C. Took much longer than the 15 month max we were told at the beginning of the process. Keeps unemployed professionals motivated. Sometimes the hard thing is not to volunteer too much at the expense of looking for a job. Very easy to get to 20 hours a week of volunteering, in my experience. psgcnj.biz/our-story/For society, PSGCNJ represents a cost-effective way to keep self-reliant individuals self-reliant. Every time a PSGCNJ member reenters the workforce, it will mean more tax revenue and fewer services for the local, state and federal levels of government.
Our Past
PSGCNJ was originally part of the N.J. Department of Labor’s Professional Service Group program, which was launched in June 2008. There were 11 statewide chapters, including PSGCNJ, based in Somerville, N.J. The State of New Jersey defunded the PSG program on May 25, 2012.
