A Simple Trick for Peeling a Potato, No Peeler RequiredEven if you have one, you might end up preferring this genius technique. Complete article here: A Simple Trick for Peeling a Potato, No Peeler RequiredHow is that a trick? I could have them all peeled and cleaned before all that falderall!

I prefer not to peel potatoes unless I have to. Potatoes with peels are healthier for me than those that are without.

How is that a trick? I could have them all peeled and cleaned before all that falderall! I didn't click the link, but "peeling tool" ?? it's called a paring knife. I don't peel potatoes. When I make mashed potatoes I keep the skins on. Looking up paring knife, it is a knife. When taking the skin off a cucumber, I use a vegetable peeler. And I would use that on a potato too. Therefore, peeling tool.

I don't peel cukes often, but when I do it's after I've already chopped a good sized chunk, and I just use the chef's knife when the chunk is on its side. I'm actually a little surprised that this didn't ring a bell for you, from a childhood novel that I read in school....I'd have figured you did as well - The Great Brain, by John D Fitzgerald. one of the stories told was how the title character 'bought' help in completing his punishment at boarding school - peeling potatoes, and how they were found out - by the telltale marks on the hand from the paring knife.

Looks like I was a senior in high school (or a bit older) when first published. Not required reading in senior year. We young men at least were more worried about being drafted and dying for nothing in the Vietnam war than paring/peeling potatoes.

I didn't realize it was published that late, the stories were set quite early 1900s.
