So the rumor is Tuberville is refusing to allow any military promotions because they want to allow Trump to take office and then fill all the open military positions with well vetted MAGA minions who would faithfully do his bidding.
In his first term, Trump claimed he was looking for the ‘best’ people. He learned his lesson. Now he only wants ‘loyal’ people.
As bad as his first term was, a second would be catastrophic. I hope enough people understand that.

From the Washington Post. Trump and allies plot revenge, Justice Department control in a second term
Advisers have also discussed deploying the military to quell potential unrest on Inauguration Day. Critics have called the ideas under consideration dangerous and unconstitutional. Donald Trump and his allies have begun mapping out specific plans for using the federal government to punish critics and opponents should he win a second term, with the former president naming individuals he wants to investigate or prosecute and his associates drafting plans to potentially invoke the Insurrection Act on his first day in office to allow him to deploy the military against civil demonstrations. In private, Trump has told advisers and friends in recent months that he wants the Justice Department to investigate onetime officials and allies who have become critical of his time in office, including his former chief of staff, John F. Kelly, and former attorney general William P. Barr, as well as his ex-attorney Ty Cobb and former Joint Chiefs of Staff chairman Gen. Mark A. Milley, according to people who have talked to him, who, like others, spoke on the condition of anonymity to describe private conversations. Trump has also talked of prosecuting officials at the FBI and Justice Department, a person familiar with the matter said. In public, Trump has vowed to appoint a special prosecutor to “go after” President Biden and his family. The former president has frequently made corruption accusations against them that are not supported by available evidence. To facilitate Trump’s ability to direct Justice Department actions, his associates have been drafting plans to dispense with 50 years of policy and practice intended to shield criminal prosecutions from political considerations. Critics have called such ideas dangerous and unconstitutional. “It would resemble a banana republic if people came into office and started going after their opponents willy-nilly,” said Saikrishna Prakash, a constitutional law professor at the University of Virginia who studies executive power. “It’s hardly something we should aspire to.” Much of the planning for a second term has been unofficially outsourced to a partnership of right-wing think tanks in Washington. Dubbed “Project 2025,” the group is developing a plan, to include draft executive orders, that would deploy the military domestically under the Insurrection Act, according to a person involved in those conversations and internal communications reviewed by The Washington Post. The law, last updated in 1871, authorizes the president to deploy the military for domestic law enforcement. How Trump would crack down on immigration in a second term www.reuters.com/world/us/how-trump-would-crack-down-immigration-second-term-2023-11-14/ Read the article, really. It's frightening. I have no idea how his government will pay for all of the things he wants to do. I strongly suspect Corporations and the wealthy will not be paying the bill. He's also talking about how once he's in office there will be a crack down (arrests?) of anyone who has differing opinions than he has. If you aren't with trump - you will be an enemy of the State. I'm paraphrasing here. But it's not too far fetched. If trump is going to punish or push out anyone in the Federal government who isn't "with him" - it's not that bi g a stretch to see it happen a that the STate, County and Local level. I can see communities putting pressure on anyone who disagrees (don't like some new local legistlation/laws - you must be a Liberal better watch your back.)

Now Trump says he will put Jack Smith in a mental health facility.
Where is the GOP on this? Do they think he’s kidding?

Yeah, all the news about how the justice department is being weaponized....then they support a candidate for President that openly admits that is what he intends to do.

Now Trump says he will put Jack Smith in a mental health facility. Where is the GOP on this? Do they think he’s kidding? Maybe they think he will be unsuccessful- like getting the wall built, having Mexico pay for the wall, repealing Obamacare, introducing the perfect amazing health care plan, all the lobbying changes he promised, fix infrastructure- or really do anything for infrastructure, bringing back manufacturing, investigating and jailing Hilary Clinton, renegotiating the Iran deal, canceling all funding to sanctuary cities, eliminating the department of education, deporting all undocumented people, kick China out of the WTO, ending birthright citizenship, balance the federal budget, eliminate (or even reduce) the federal debt, and whatever other bullshit came out of his mouth.

Senate rules committee is going to vote around Tuberville to approve the 450 military applications he’s sitting on. Most GOP members aligned. So maybe we can get the military up to full force again.
