From what I see so far he drowned in his hot tub. As weird as it sounds I'm really hoping heart attack rather than over dose.
I'm not one to think much about celebrities but I liked him. I liked his character as Chandler and I related to him on his struggles with addiction. This makes me sad.

Sorry to hear that. Was just looking at my local paper on my phone, and did not see them announce that.
I was s only following him in a detached way in recent years. Was aware of his rehab/recovery/book tour.
I did watch Friends back in the Day.

Yeah. I saw that last night. I'm too young for my childhood/early adulthood culture to be passing away. I'm not even 50 yet. Luke Perry has been gone since 2019. Robin Williams. Sinead O'Connor. Suzanne Somers.
Shannon Doherty probably doesn't have a lot of time left. (Her breast cancer is in her brain).

One of the article reminded me of the series Go On that he was the main character with John Cho as his best friend. If you haven't seen it, I'd recommend watching it. I hope his soul is at peace.

I was sad to hear of his passing. It sounds like no drugs were found at the scene and I am hoping none are found in the autopsy. Seems like it definitely could be heart related. He had been playing pickelball for a couple of hours before getting the hot tub. His body had been abused by opioids for many years. All of that sounds like a recipe for cardiac arrest.
RIP Matthew Perry.

They said no drugs - but didn’t mention alcohol. Any chance he was drunk? Or is that included in “drugs”?

Wondering who was with him or found him and made the 911 call? Doesn't mean much drugs weren't laying around to be found by the authorities. People do have a tendency to try to protect themselves and reputations. Autopsy results should give the information enquiring minds want to know.

One thing we were told when getting my Red Cross senior life saving/lifeguard certification was never swim alone in home pools without someone else there to help you if you have a medical emergency in the water. Applies to bodies of water (ocean, lake, etc.)
It's possible Perry had some sort of medical emergency in the water and was not able to help himself out of the water.

I scan-read somewhere that he had anti depressants and anti anxiety meds in his system. I also read he'd played pickleball for 2 hours then hit the hot tub. IDK what the outside temperature was when he played. Too much heat playing followed by hot tub seems like overheating or heat related illness.

I read: An autopsy has been conducted, but examiners are awaiting the results of toxicology reports in order to determine Perry’s cause of death, the medical examiner’s office told CNN on Sunday. Such reports can take weeks to complete. link

The more I read about his life the more tragic it all sounds. The things he stated about never being fully sober while filming most seasons of Friends. His struggles after the series ended, etc. I'm so saddened by his struggles and his death. I like bio pics and this sounds like one I would enjoy watching but there is no one I could imagine playing Matthew Perry.

I've got another call in 20min, and can't be wiping myself up off the floor if I do think about it, though. too many, too young.

My biggest celebrity loss was Phil Hartman- he was in his prime and his death was so sad and unnecessary. News Radio sucked after that.

I only casually watched Friends, never to the level that most people my age did. Still though, after seeing those Tribute videos it does make me bummed.....never fun seeing people die that left a huge mark on culture.
