I give up. For the last few months any stock I buy gets a case of *TTS disease. These are stocks the analysts rate as a good buy. Top 500 companies. P/E ratios good. Good dividends. What could go wrong? I buy a stock. Earnings comes out. It beats the projected earnings. That's good right. Wrong. The stock goes down. WTF?? WHY?? This market is so rigged against the small investor. I should just sell all and buy CD's or put the money in a money market account. I've seen some tv ads on some paying 4.5 to 5%.
*TTS = Turns to shit

Fidelity is paying in the 5% range for CDs and money market accounts.
If you are going to invest in stocks and/or mutual funds, dollar-cost-averaging may be a better way to go.

Perhaps you should define better what you describe as TTS. I am up from where I was a few months ago, and I am basically not trading at all. I spent from January 2022 until July 2023 below where I am now. Sometimes far below where I am now. If you define TTS as "trading within a range so that I am not making any money" then that is one thing. If you are instead down 20-30% or more, as your naming seems to imply, maybe you are just not very good at this.

I've got some really nice ceramic artworks you might like to invest in... each one is numbered and signed by the artist. I've got lots of different themes - dog breeds (the puppy ones are the cutest), horses, Norman Rockwell, Farmland themes, and a bunch of Christmas themed ones (some more religious than others). Really. They are a HOT collectable and will hold their value over time. The ones I have are over 25 years old! I don't want to part with them... but I need to raise some cash so I'm looking to cash in on the investment. I'd rather sell them to someone I know who could use a boost in their investments. I can cut you a deal since I wouldn't have to sell on the "open market" and incur fees and whatnot to sell them (let's me cut out the middle man). Let me know if you are interested.

Buy a low expense ratio broad based index fund and let it grow over time. Basic wise investing tells an investor to not have more than 5% to 10% of investments in individual stocks. It's risky. Yes, you may get the ups, but lots of times you get the downs.

What does that mean? Rigged against the small investor? Are small investors only able to invest in individual stocks? Don't multi millionaires also invest in those same individual stocks? Are individual stocks the only choice? And who is rigging the market? The outlets reporting to you to buy a specific stock because it's a "good buy"?? Someone else?? Are a small investor's investment needs and strategy the same as a multi millionaire? And if you are loosing on your individual stocks - can't you put that lose to good use (lowering the taxes you pay)? <-- snark mirroring back questionable stuff I've heard from other people... as in I dont' know what I'm talking about.

LOL...sounds like you are siting on a gold mine. I'll take them all. $25.00.

I say it's rigged because the big hedge funds can buy and sell millions of shares at a time. In for 30min then out. If they make a nickle on each of their trades they make money.

Hedge funds don't have a magic crystal ball and they don't all do spectacularly. They do charge exorbitant fees, though, so they're much like the casinos in Las Vegas in that they always win. Read about the bet that Buffet made with a hedge fund owner. He bet $1 million of his own money that an index fund would outperform a hedge fund over a 10 year period. He won. You can read about it here - Buffett's Bet with the Hedge Funds: And the Winner Is …
