Hopefully, folks are now reconsidering on moving to Florida since the Republican government has turned hostile on its minority residents and visitors.

If the politics don't get to you, the availability of reasonably priced insurance and healthcare will make you think twice. BTDT. Too bad, as the average citizens there are actually decent folks.

Florida has been the crazy capital of the US for at least a decade. to not see it is unforgivable. so yeah, not much sympathy, here. but i hope it changes.

Global warming and the loss of the corral reef will increase storm activity and Florida will end up underwater.

Wonder if the storm coming tomorrow will have any affect on the insurance industry that is left there? We may end up being directly in it's path after it has crossed a section of the panhandle....the part with Tallahassee in it! Wonder if DeSantis is at home in Tallahassee?

He probably took off for Mexico like Ted Cruz did a couple of years ago when Texas was dealing with extreme weather.

Tenn. & NW, yes we made it thru. It went past us about 50 mi. to our east so us being on the back side of it didn't get the worst of it. We go wind, just not terrible winds and we got a lot of rain too, but it quit about mid afternoon here today. And I had spent about 3 days of getting things ready...just in case! I am now worn out...mostly from the stress of not knowing where that thing was going to go.
Hope no one else who posts here was affected! Do we know?

On Friday, Mr DeSantis was asked about President Joe Biden’s call to increase money for FEMA’s disaster fund ahead of a visit to Florida on Saturday to survey the damage from the Category 3 hurricane. “As governor, I’ll be pulling whatever levers I can to be able to help folks,” he said at a press conference. “We will apply for whatever federal money is available.”
But during his time as a member of Congress, Mr DeSantis regularly voted against disaster relief for other areas. In 2013, right after he joined Congress, he voted against a supplemental appropriations bill to help the Northeast recover from Hurricane Sandy. www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/desantis-says-florida-will-apply-for-federal-disaster-relief-money-he-opposed-it-as-a-congressman/ar-AA1g7diZ?ocid=msedgntp&cvid=f6f5b44e2b474c80a8575b0834323581&ei=74Maybe it's time for FL to pass a state income tax to take care of their citizens. Pull those bootstraps up and all. Being the free state they are, cannot understand why they think the rest of us should pay.

very good point. freeloading off the rest of us is unbecoming of their freedom loving asses.
it would be different if they were doing everything they could about AGW. but instead, they are busy denying it. so, how about the rest of us claim that Hurricanes don't exist?
