Last May all my Ameritrade accounts were swept/moved over to Charles Schwab. Since TD Ameritrade merged with Schwab why do I still see ads on TV for TD Ameritrade? I thought they became Schwab.

I've been with TD for about 25yrs. it is not a spinoff. it is not a separate entity. it is a wholly owned subsidiary. your permission is not required. i don't recall Elon Musk asking me if i wanted my Twitter account turned into his magnificent X. too bad for me. that is what happens when another company buys the company you have come to know and love. they can do with it what they want. you could have a worse owner than Schwab. trust me on that. some new owners are really great about their subsidiaries, like Berkshire Hathaway. others are lousy, like Musk. just hope that Schwab is more like the former than the latter. |

these things happen. i didn't like it when HP got taken over. seemed like a disaster to me. it kinda was.
