Cancer. He's been privately battling it for 6 years.
This is a celebrity death that hurt. I LOVE Pee Wees Big Adventure. I have since I was a kid.
I still roll my Hershey kiss wrappers into a ball. I was always trying to make a ball as big as the one in the playhouse but my mom was always finding them and throwing them out.
I had my big opportunity to do the Pee Wee dance last year in Estes. The restaurant we were at played Tequila. Gwen almost died because absolutely I got up and danced!
I just watched it on YouTube again.
RIP Pee Wee you're riding around with Large Marge in heaven now.

I absolutely loved Paul Reubens! I was always excited to see him cameo in various shows. My favorite was when he played the inbred prince in 30 Rock! He has so much more of a career than just PeeWee, although that is everyone's favorite character. I hope he is at peace now. Cancer sucks!
