Has anyone seen the trailer?
There is apparently some complaints that Phoenix didn’t play the part with a British accent- the other actors seem to have.
Apparently using an American accent is a faux pas.
Here’s the thing - if we want to be really accurate, everyone should be speaking French. I have no doubt there are plenty of very fine French speaking actors who could have played these rolls beautifully.
If I saw a film about George Washington where everyone spoke German, I would be irked.
But Ridley Scott, I’m certain for financial reasons (because I know people who refuse to see a subtitled movie) had his actors speak English- in whatever accent- not anything to get worked up over, IMOH.
Wonder how historically accurate it will be - looks pretty good.
