"A superb painting created by Spanish artist Sergi Cadenas shows human aging as you move from one side of the piece to the other. In the artwork, which has become viral on social media, the face of a woman ages many years when you take a few steps in the opposite direction."

I'm cranky this morning. so please filter what I'm saying thru your "this person is tired and cranky and maybe feeling a little attacked".
Did the artist age any other faces? I'm not in the mood to click and watch it (I've been bombarded by age defying product ads for women on youtube this morning.)
Sure it's cool. But I already KNOW how women's faces age - It's a popular theme for makeup/hair/skin quality products to show what it is their product will prevent or cover up (for like the last 60 years).
How come no one cares what men look like when they age (and no one treats it with silent "horror")?

The video does show mostly female faces turning old. I don't know if he did any white male faces turning old but his black male faces turn into skulls, etc. except for the very last one. Since we aren't there we don't know if the bias is by who filmed it or by the artist.
It is interesting, but a valid point having viewed the video again.

As viewers, none of us are privy to the artist's entire body of work. So we have zero information of the percentage of gender the artist has painted in the past. So do we find fault with the artist for the faces depicted in the very short video. Or do we find fault with the person who created the very short video. Or should no fault be found at all.

Tiny has a legitimate beef in that it is true women are depicted as aging far more than men. Given the video it does make me wonder if the filmer is a white male.

Well, I personally found the art fascinating. Would love to see in person. It sorta reminded me of an exhibit one of our museums had in mid 70’s. Not the same but an exhibit of holograms. I dragged my 10 yr old son on one of “mom’s culture trips” He was totally taken with looking at “picture” and watching it follow him as he was led around it! He actually said it was “cool”. In one of the blips it explained that this was the technology being used in stores for scanning code bars. This was fairly new back then. Know theses aren’t holograms but it dredged up fond memories. Old pEEps and walking down memory lane.

Came across another video by artist Sergi Cadenas last night on YouTube. Video takes place at a gallery featuring various works of Cadenas. His subjects are diverse.

Your grumpy issues are with the beauty industry and not the artist's works. yeah, I am grumpy with the beauty industry and how societies around the world buy into it. Artists use art to evoke an emotion or "send a message" or to somehow be meaningful to their target audience. Artists are not unbiased. What emotions or messages do these paintings convey? I'd say his portraits are memori mentos. I will say the "holographic effect" is pretty cool. I have holy cards from the 70's that flip from Jesus praying (I guess asking god why? why am I to do this??) to a resurrected Jesus dressed in white. And I had a couple of "kids" books that had the holographic images as part of the story - you moved the page to see the picture change. I even have to recent-ish souvenier Football game cups with those old timey holographs on it there's a playing running with a ball that morphs into the player's portrait. It's even cooler that he did the effect with paint (and paper/canvas).
