I'm a small stock investor. I occasionally tune into Jim Cramer show on CNBC. He sounds smart but I wonder what is his batting average?

Well, he was pushing SVB Bank as a strong buy last month.

Jim Cramer strikes me more as "entertainment" or someone who's income is dependent on remaining in the limelight. Which means his advice is suspect. Or rather it's all his opinion based on who knows what. (I'm guessing he checks the current headlines and then comes up with content for today's show so he can be trendy). In the past there might have been a kernel of wisdom in his advice - but I don't think there is anymore.

Taking investing advice from a television personality is like taking advice from a doctor on TV. Good investment advice, like medical advice, needs to tailored to the individual and their goals and circumstances. He is likely giving generic advice otherwise. If you think any stock tip you get from him is worthwhile, I would say you are delusional. By the time he is giving it to you, the people who do this full time have been all over it.

I read an article/watched a video about him a few years ago that made the exact point that he is entertainment. Jumps around waving his arms when talking about stuff to make it look like it's exciting. Not a good track record.

Jim Cramer is one of two people I will no longer take investment advice from. The other one is my father. I learned many years ago not to listen to either one of them when it comes to investing.

I always think of the Arrested Development scene where he upgrades the Bluth company to “Don’t buy” because ‘the son doesn’t seem like a total idiot’.
Not a ringing endorsement of a guy giving good investment advice. 🤣🤣🤣
