Don't want to get moon/Laura in trouble. Thus the title. Taco John’s responds to Taco Bell’s Taco Tuesday lawsuitTaco John’s, a regional chain, has responded to Taco Bell’s effort to liberate the phrase so that anyone can use it.
In a filing Friday, responding to Taco Bell’s petition to “cancel” the trademark, Taco John’s parent company Spicy Seasonings denied there is “anything ‘not cool’ about” obtaining a trademark for the phrase. The Wyoming-based company said Taco Bell’s lawsuit is filled with “statements of opinion to which no response is required, including that Tuesday is a mediocre day of the week.” Didn't realize it was trademarked. I'm rooting for Taco Bell!

I didn't know it was trademarked either. I think Fuzzy's Tacos uses it, too. Oddly enough, I'm actually eating "the Bell" right now.

Guess it's a good thing there are no Taco John's here, because pretty much every Mexican and Mexican adjacent restaurant around here does some form of Taco Tuesday special. Thank goodness.

I don't think they can trademark having a special deal for tacos on Tuesdays. What they have trademarked is calling it "Taco Tuesday". And they can actually give (sell?) permission for others to use that term.

Did not know that was trademarked until the recent Bell commercials. What about Taco Thursday? Damn it, I just gave that away.

It is crazy what you can trademark:
“This sick beat” belongs to Taylor Swift “You’re Fired” guess who! “That’s hot” - Paris Hilton “You cannot be serious” TM John McEnroe “Let’s Roll” belongs to a charity named after the 9/11 guy from the plane that went down in the field
There are more - but it shouldn’t surprise me that Taco Tuesday is TM. My husband has been singing me their jingle for 25 years.
