I just love seeing that sentence on the bottom of the screen.

I just love seeing that sentence on the bottom of the screen. Yes, but there ARE a lot of other sentences that would be even more satisfying. "Trump convicted of espionage, sentenced to 400 years in prison" would be good, for example. Ultimately, I want to see the one that says, "Funeral arrangements are pending."

True, but I'm still going to enjoy this moment.

The bits and pieces I've seen of it show everyone peacefully holding their signs either for or against Trump. It probably helps that they've seen 1000+ people be sentenced for their roles in 1/6. That and they have a ton of law enforcement there.

All the people I've seen interviewed (spent 5 minutes on all of this) are wearing trump regalia (they planned what they were wearing and had all the accessories etc available).
Are there any regular/every day people who showed up to this?
I've been to quite a few protests/marches/demonstrations and there's always a core group who have prepared signs and brought their drum/whistle or other props and who are wearing clothing with their message on it (I've gone to protests against the War, Women's Marches, Pro Union marches/demonstrations, protests for or against some bit of local legislation, I even went and "cheered" on the BLM march in my suburb, etc...) and then there's either tens, hundreds, thousands of people are dressed in their regular clothing/hats/whatever and are there to add their voice and presents to the crowd. The majority of the crowds didn't have some way of identifying them as being there specifically for the event (no t-shirt with a slogan, no premade placard or sign, no flags or hats).
Does trump only have "core" people - well prepared and dressed in their trump-y best? Or does he also have tens, hundreds, thousands of people who just got up and went to the protest/demonstration just as they are??
That will really tell how people are really feeling about all this... the more 'everyday' people the more people actually care about his difficulties and support him.

Didnt look like there was many people there. So completely bizarre to see this in a modern Western country.... and probably not a good idea. Love him, or hate him.... he was elected and you have a democracy People are going to feel cheated and that the chasm is still there.

What's not a good idea? Indicting him and arresting him for crimes he committed and bragged about Yes he was elected, but he is no longer president. And our democracy has laws....that he broke! I'm really confused by your comment.

Yeah, Raw Story is calling it a disorganized MAGA misfit rally.
Not the protesting mobs Trump hoped for Im sure.
There was a guy with a pigs head on a pike. He said he didn’t have a specific reason for carrying it.
Not an explosion, more a fizzle.
Are the MAGAs tired of the circus clown finally?

PS- small quibble- we are an elective republic. if we were a democracy, we would be under Hillary's second term, now.

trump made his bed. Let him lay in it. No one SHOULD be above them. Whether that holds up only the future will tell. There are too many uncertainties like the judge, and the real possibility of a MAGA representative on the jury. This trial will be a litmus test on whether you will be able to keep this claim (for now)

On the cruise ship, I was listening to them streaming BBC. Normally I think highly of this news agency, but they had so much wrong in their reporting that I finally turned it off.
This was the one that stood out. The reporter said that Trump will be tried by a jury of his peers (correct) and if only one jury member says he’s not guilty, he’s not guilty.
The other thing that BBC glossed over was that they were ‘just papers’ every president does this, and there was a large amount of implying that Biden sic’ed the DOJ on Trump, and that he was politicizing the DOJ.
The BBC really did a hackneyed job of reporting the arrest. And their reporters need to be educated on the US Justice system before spouting off their mouth,

I prefer he do so with a big hairy roomie named Bertha, who's got a lot of hellish tats, filthy nails, and a long, blunt object slightly wider that DT's nethermost entry point.

I think some know he won't save them and others still think he is a better person than he is. People who show up to rallies are generally a different breed anyway. At the height of Trump rallies before he was elected, some Trump worshippers admitted they followed him from rally to rally. I think he may have fans always because of the perception of his wealth and power. But he's increasingly acting unhinged like Guliani so who knows. Mobs stealing refrigerators .... x millions maybe billions. He is so divorced from reality but well versed in other paranoid people's fears. While there can be large amounts of thieves targeting a store, its never even close to a hundred let alone twenty usually. But it does evoke the riots after George Floyd so the unrealistic and those who eat up horror fiction will be sold and glued to his every mumble and verbal disaster.
