Pat Robertson is dead.

I don't believe in heaven or hell...   but I sincerely wish and hope that in his final moments as the realization that death is final that he was filled with the horror and despair he so richly deserved.  Hoping that he got to experience some of the pain and suffering he was instrumental in causing to millions thru out his lifetime.

I have no tears. 

This guy hurt my people badly.  I am queer.  He also was absolutely shameless in his fund-raising practices but seem to have lived long enough for those scandals to have been forgotten or forgiven because the guys that came after him were more ruthless.  Stories about how mom impoverished herself by sending money to Pat seem to be absent from this obit.  They should be remembered.

It's gonna take me a while to deal with some of the last images of him.  He dressed as a conservative servant of God for many years, mostly in navy or khaki suits,which didn't look bad on him and also looked vaguely non-partisan.  By the end he was wearing shapeless sweaters in MAGA-red. 

If there is a gate-keeper at heaven, this guy is in for some tough questioning.  He did a lot of damage while he walked the earth.

i normally am far more reserved in my criticism.  but Robertson is a uniquely bad actor in American politics.  

normally i would say this:

"my dad taught me not to speak ill of the dead, but i have nothing good to say about him/her".

i should probably go back to that.

Hugs. I hope you know you and your people are supported by better human beings. I know that helps little at times when someone like this has an outsized effect on making perfectly fine human beings targets. I am so sorry, I wish you strength on this planet for your journey as a queer person. I wish to the Divine it was not needed.

If there is a gatekeeper, I hope Robertson gets a well-deserved kick in the ass that's hard enough to send him to hell.

And thank you for being out. My nephew came out this month. As his family, we all knew beforehand. But he did it in public because he wants to live openly and not be afraid. I am afraid for him to live in this society, but I am proud of who he has chosen to be.
