surprised nobody mentioned this. i think it is fucking hilarious: theconversation.com/project-veritas-fired-james-okeefe-over-fear-of-losing-its-nonprofit-status-5-questions-answered-200445The board of directors of Project Veritas has accused O'Keefe of “financial misfeasance.” Its allegations of financial improprieties by the man who until recently served as the group’s chairman include that he spent money donated to the organization on various luxuries for himself, such as charter flights and theater tickets.
If the accusations prove valid, it is possible that this misuse of Project Veritas funds could imperil the group’s tax exemption. A tax-exempt organization cannot use its money to benefit certain individuals, especially insiders such as its leaders and major donors. It can pay its employees, but the staff and its leaders cannot receive unreasonable compensation or any other type of benefit that looks like the tax-exempt organization is sharing its profits with them.if Veritas goes down, that would be glorious. they actually should never have had non-profit status, as they are not an educational organization. and JOKe is a convicted felon, so yeah. not feeling much sympathy. he is a liar and a fraud.

Well, I tend to avoid any far right nonsense but your post had me do a little looking into the group. I agree with you -> it would be glorious if they go down in flames! The thing that gets me the most (aside from their vile lies) is that they have been hiding behind the first Amendment all while working to take down the press.

i think the most nasty and deceitful thing they ever did was take down ACORN.
for those of you that don't remember, i would be happy to read you in. i spent a lot of time looking into it. it literally put Veritas on the map, and it was a act of pure hate, imo.
incidentally, i would not have known about this, but i got an email from this asshole this morning. here is, in part, what it said:
My friends with the non-profit, Liberty Guard, have set up the fund to pay attorney costs that will quickly pile up.
As I mentioned, this isn’t my first rodeo so I know that the cost will exceed $500,000.
Good attorneys aren’t cheap, and my pockets are not deep.
No one gets wealthy doing the work that I do. Trust me.
the very thing that he is in trouble for is getting wealthy off the work he does. so, yeah, my inclination would be to say that "jury is out" on that one.

The OP says that O'Keefe used donated funds for inappropriate activities. There is no indication that he is accused of embezzling and pocketing money. Sounds to me that he was living as if he was wealthy but it was off donated funds and not him gaining personal wealth.

And what else is using money that is NOT yours to live of large if not "embezzling and pocketing money"? Does the fact tbat he did not even save some of the stolen money mean it was any less stolen/embezzled?

I remember SCP crowing about it. And I especially remember all the bad stuff I found out about how it wasn't really documentaries he was trying to make but baiting and trolling to get soundbites he wanted. And some of his financial indiscretions shall we say were already showing back then.

yeah. it is way worse than that. he fabricated footage completely to create an illusion that things were far worse than they actually were, then he selectively edited it to make things even worse than that. he is a really horrible person. nasty.

I remember laughing about his firing a few months ago. Surprised as well that nobody had a thread about it.

i don't know how i missed THIS article, either: www.cbsnews.com/news/project-veritas-james-okeefe-layoffs-fundraising-pause/Veritas has effectively suspended operations as of last September. it makes sense. Veritas was always O'Keefe. without him, they lose their central fundraiser. it appears that Veritas is still operating. but since they are not fundraising, it is just a matter of time before they bleed out.

It looks to me like they blew through all the money they had left over so that whoever sued them over the false allegations can't get a penny from them. Scum is what they are.

Scum is what they are. i think what they did with ACORN was absolutely disgusting. vile. contempt-worthy. even to this day, people think that stupid pimp getup thing was real. it wasn't. he never wore it in the building. and ACORN didn't do anything wrong. but they were driven out of business by Veritas. they should have sued them for defamation. they would have won. instead, what we have is this persistent image of ACORN that is utterly out of step with the reality of that organization and their scope of work (which was largely apolitical). his is among the worst people i have ever seen in public light. i am glad that, at least for the moment, we seem to be rid of him.

i think what TG said on Feb 7th was part of the settlement mentioned above (the state of PA -vs- Veritas and JOK)
edit: unless something new comes up with this asshole, i am going to let this thread die. no sense giving him and his lies any more bandwidth than i have done.
amazingly, justice seems to have been done here. let's hope the same goes for Trump.

Letting this thread die is fine...for now. But beware, this kind of evil is like a weed that has runners and every time you think you have it under control it pops up again. We would have to "nuke" it to get rid of it and I just don't know how, or even if, we can do that.
