Smart Lock

Just installed a smart lock on my front door deadbolt and connected it to voice control all by myself.

Life is good.

It is a great time to be alive.



Anyone else want to share something that they are feeling good and/or are proud about accomplishing?

I want to know what a smart lock is.

I'm glad I am still alive and hopeful that spring allergy season will lessen on June 1st like predicted. I am finding things that I couldn't find before.

My "key" is now an app on my phone. The lock is connected to the internet so I can unlock it from anywhere I have a data connection. That means when a granddaughter needs to borrow something she can text me and I can unlock the door for her. I have a doorbell camera I can also check from anywhere to confirm who all is there. Daughter now has a "key" on her phone so I can pull the metal one from its hiding place. The lock is also tied to Alexi so I can voice unlock the door from my recliner, after viewing who is at the door on my doorbell connected TV.

I figured out how to watch both cable and streaming given that we are (for some shitastic reason) up to 4 remote controls. 😖

I should have two cable box controls. I am not sure of its purpose though given I have no working TV and they replaced my internet boxes with one thing. The non tech guy said sometimes they push stuff through it, but  . I think I am going to turn it back off until I get sad about the dead TV and move the small cheap flat screen in front of it and hook it up. 

Today's success ... oh, I think I do have an estimate from the body shop. Weird thing, the shop's email is from the same Internet & email provider. I got the email saying not doing an estimate and it turns out an estimate did arrive a couple days later/

My success today.  My left knee has been painful and difficult to walk, use stairs, stiff after sitting.  Walking is easier after getting out of the car.  Maybe more rest will help. 

I was supposed to get an appointment call from an ortho for further eval from the xray. Have not received a call.

I'm glad weltsmersz able to walk better.

I need a smart lock.  When the techy NIL gets back from his vacation, I need to get him to install a couple for me.  

I love telling Alexis to do things for me.  She minds 99% of the time.  If you request the wrong song, she will play the wrong song.

Good luck. I'm having issues with my back, right knee & ankle. Although sometimes it migrates. Its partly needed walking because I have no car and part finally replaced needed shoes two plus years later, so my body is trying to adjust on multiple levels.

Challenging to come up with your own cocktail of what works for you because sometimes it changes unexpectedly. I hope you find something that works for you, I take a daily bath or shower right now and need to take tylenol more often for the aches and the swelling in the knee.

NJGirl2 - you are right.  Find what works for our self. 

A pillow under my knees at night helps support them. 4 bags of frozen vegetable.  Towel between skin and frozen veg bag.  One under each knee and one on top of each knee.  Reduces swelling.

I found Arctic Ice from the Dollar Store is much better than Biofreeze.  I bought a digital therapy machine (TENS) that puts electric impulses into the injured area to help healing..  (TEMU has inexpensive ones and free shipping.)  I also bought knee supports.  The TENS works but not a cure all. 

Good shoes with supports are critical for the body.  My used tennis shoes (not sneakers but real tennis shoes) get used as daily shoes because the insoles are so good when outer soles wear down. 

I have used Walmart insoles in my shoes.  Dr. Scholls Tri Comfort.  They do relieve leg/foot fatigue.
