Cruz is wanting to drag Budweiser to Washington to grill them on their nefarious marketing to minors because of their marketing campaign using a transgender woman. Just to show it’s a political stunt, nothing more, Cruz is saying if Bud will apologize to the American people and cut ties with their trans spokesman he’ll drop the grilling. www.vanityfair.com/news/2023/05/ted-cruz-launches-investigation-into-bud-light-for-ad-featuring-transgender-influencerI hope the Bud marketing team does show up in congress to give a four hour long dissertation full of power points and video clips explaining how companies plan marketing campaigns targeting a variety of different markets, with charts highlighting how young adults these days are either positive towards or indifferent towards trans people, compared to the old fart generations who suffer the vapors when a queer person dares to show up their face in public. Awesome waste of government (and taxpayer) time, Ted.

Isn't it illegal to sell alcohol to the under 21yo crowd? So what minors is Budweiser marketing to while using a transgender woman? Cruz needs to stop wasting taxpayer money with this nonsense.

I just noticed the big burn from the OP's URL (Vamity Fair)
Meanwhile, if Cruz actually cared about children, perhaps he should do something about them being murdered in mass shootings, and that 50% of the 10 deadliest mass shootings in America in the last eight years have occurred in his state.

I’m guessing most minors wouldn’t realize this is a trans woman in the first place. Cruz is just trying to show he’s as anti woke as the next far right guy. Because exposing kids to trans people is the biggest crisis we’re facing right now.

A side goal would be to create identification with the brand in future consumers. Also, as shocking as this might be, plenty of kids are able to buy it before they turn 21. However, I don't see this ad campaign as targeting minors improperly.

Another thought, I would be surprised if Cruz doesn't have a staffer doing outreach work with high schoolers too young to vote so they will support him when they turn eighteen.

However, for the "child as target audience" argument to hold, Ted would have to make a believable case that the ads are meant to break existing laws. And if he tries do do that what is the use of creating more laws and/or regulations since the existing ones are (in his opinion) failing?

eh, isn't the statistic something like 35 people die each day die in a drunk driving related accident in America?
Republicans don't care about those deaths - they certainly don't care about how many people die in gun related deaths.
Much less any children involved in either type of death event.

Or the 85,000+ children who are homeless in Texas, or the 9 million kids who have food insecurity in the USA. Ted Cruz is spitting in the ocean and claiming to make a difference.

There is another beer company (Miller?) who is now on the butt end of anti woke ire. They have a commercial with a reasonably dressed woman talking about the horrible previous ads for the company always had curvy models in tiny bikinis or daisy dukes and micro t shirts hawking their beer, when historically, from ancient times, women have been the brewers. They’re asking everyone to send them their old sexist ad junk and they’ll donate money to women brewers.
And the MAGA crowd is furious.
Let’s see - they hate the trans woman in the beer ads, now they hate the woman in business clothes talking about women brewers, maybe the MAGA problem is just - women??

Wonder what they will drink if companies keep making commercials that get their ire up. Many of these brewers of low quality beer are owned by huge conglomerates, so they will still get their money even if they boycott a different beer.
Looking on the bright side, if they run out of beer to drink we may see drunk driving rates and alcoholism rates go down

They’re handy at making both, then driving around crazily in their pick ups with the big confederate flag in the back. The ones with the truck balls and mud flaps with naked ladies on them.

I realize I was being too optimistic. If it wasn’t for cigarettes and alcohol I wouldn’t have a job
