We've all seen pictures of funny sale signs or promos but I saw my first one in person tonight. Kroger has Starkist tuna on promo: $10 for 10. Attached to that promo sticker is the sale sticker "Buy 5 or more, just $.99 each". I had to chuckle. I also bought six cans. What's a funny one that you've seen IRL?

I saw a can of retried beans on sale for $1.25 - the regular price, which was listed just below the sale price, was $1.29. This was in a βpremiumβ grocery store.

Not a sign, but... My BF bought me a purse on "CLEARANCE" once. After buying it, I peeled the clearance tag off the reg price tag, to see how much the discount was. It was marked down one penny! The original price was $79.99. The clearance price was $79.98. π
Big clearance!

It always boggles my mind that bundled products, such as deodorant are sold individually for FAR less than the the individual price of each bundled item. I picked up deodorant this weekend and single product was something like 4.69, and the bundled two-pack was selling for 10-something. I think those that don't examine the price per have been conditioned to think bundled stuff is a better deal without doing the math .

Shopping with various friends through the years, it always amazes me how folks think buy one get one half off is such a deal. It's really only 25% off. Can't count how often I've explained that and been met with very blank looks. Have even had DD14 in her teenage wisdom do the math on her phone to prove me wrong LOL.

And then there's the "Now! 50% more" on an 18 oz. box, followed by "than the 12 oz size." The price is proportional to the size of course.

I keep instant oatmeal in the house and I was pissed when the price jumped from 2.84 to 3.91 AND it is now an 8 packet box in lieu of 10 packet box.
I keep seeing articles suggesting inflation is softening...um...sure, but we have all been paying these prices and I doubt grocery prices are going to drop to reflect that.
Sorry, off topic rant.

It's a good thing we weren't hungry! π Actually, he was buying me clothes to wear on a trip to Cancun that we took together. Most of the clothes had to be altered, so we went to a tailor, then he did take me to dinner. When we got to Cancun, all the clothes that were altered, were screwed up, so we had to buy me clothes to wear again, in Cancun! I was not a happy camper! I don't think the tailor had ever even taken a sewing class in Jr High School, looking at the way she altered the clothes! (She lost her job, when we returned and took the clothes to the business. They were bad!)

My favorite was Viking. We had a booked and paid cruise. About 3 weeks before we left, I got an email UPGRADE YOUR CABIN SALE! Intrigued, I looked and laughed.
The cost to upgrade our cabin one level was exactly the price it would have been to book it in the first place.
Next cruise, got another email like this. Glad I looked, as I was just about ready to blow it off after the previous email. This time the cost to upgrade was peanuts. I upgraded.

That's actually a good promo, its not requiring a literal 10 cans of tuna for $10; local grocery chain does that ore similar. But you are being told that you only need to buy $5 to hit the promo price.
