WARNING….. this is about suicide and possibly triggering.
I am disturbed. One of my FB friends shared a post yesterday, from a young lady that said she was going to end her life yesterday and specifically said “on Easter Sunday”. Not that that really matters, I guess it may have meant something to her to add that.
I went to her page, she has almost 5000 FB friends and over 100 followers. The comments under the post were lots of prayers and pleas for her not to do that, telling her her daughter needs her, and urging people that knew who she is IRL and where she lives to go to her or at least send the police to do a welfare check. Then somebody that I assume knows her IRL said “I talked to her. We got her”, and I prayed that that meant someone had got to her IRL and was getting her some help.
I went back to her page this evening, and she made a post with a picture of herself this morning, saying she took a whole bottle of pills and “bye y’all”.
Idk if she’s okay physically, or even still alive.
I feel like her posting on FB yesterday and today about her intentions, were cries for help. In my uneducated opinion, when someone speaks about their intention to commit suicide, they are giving someone a chance to intervene and stop them.
My question is when you see something like that on social media, from someone you don’t know and their FB name isn’t even their real name, what can you do to try to get professionals to get to them ASAP to hopefully intervene and get them some help?
This is not the first time I’ve heard of people posting like this on FB, and even going live when they do commit suicide, but it’s the first time something like that has come across my timeline. I don’t know her, but her posts hurt my heart. I wanted to be able to do something to send help to her, but I couldn’t think of how I could do that, and still can’t.
Even if it’s too late to help her, do any of you have suggestions for what to do if something like that ever comes on my FB feed again? I want to believe that there must be some way to send help for someone like that, but idk how.

Because you mentioned Facebook, I found this on Facebook:
If you or anyone else have a dough idea the city and state where the poster in distress might reside, 'you' can contact local authorities and tell them what you know. Even provide the URL address of the person's Facebook home page.
Authorities have gotten pretty good with technology and just might be able to track down the personal in troubles physical address.

I really don't know. But I thought FB had a 'report' button you can click on, to notify them if something bad like this, or inappropriate, dangerous, etc is found, so they can contact the proper authorities. I want to say you click on the post, then make the needed selection and go from there. But I could be totally wrong. I've never used it, TBH.
I hope she will be okay. Even if it takes some time to get there.
It's sweet of you, to care. ♡

Do you know her address? You can call the police non-emergency line and tell them you need a wellness check done because you've seen postings from your friend that concern you and feel that she needs to be checked on. They will send someone out.

I would tag the local police in her comments I don’t even know what state she lives in, she doesn’t have her location on her page and her FB page isn’t her real name. Idk her at all. I only saw it because one of my FB friends reposted it and then I went to her page. If I ever see something like that again, and their real name is on their page, I will try to find out what city and state that person is in, and contact their local police department. There were people in the comments that seemed to know her IRL. I pray one of them sent the police or somebody to her house.
