it's manatee appreciation day. Please figuratively hug a manatee today, since it is illegal to touch them. I manatees.

But it has become more common over the years. Word spreads like wild fire and it become a traffic jam problem. But I got to see them up close some time back!!

Fifteen or more years ago a wayward manatee was sighted here in one of Memphis' small rivers leading into the Mississippi river. Don't remember what happened to it though.

It was hundreds of mile out of its traditional range. Big mistake in reporting a sighting. Some asshole(s) hunted it down and killed it for sport.
