Well, from what I'm seeing so far today....now would be a good time to figure out which stocks will be the best bargains for the long term.  It sure looks like a fire sale with some of them.
But then what will happen if we default on the US debt?  Can anyone give me some idea?  How far down will our markets go?

it would be absolutely tragic for the US.
but keep in mind that corporations basically run America.
i would place the odds of that happening in the low single digits.

DJ, thanks for the answer.  I sure hope we don't default, but those idiots in that one conservative little group may end up holding us up & letting it happen.  I just hope they don't try to raid the SS trust fund again to pay the US bills. (See what I posted in the "Current Events" forum)  There are way too many of us old folks who depend on those checks to keep us from being homeless & to have at least a little something to eat.  There are just way too many that already have to decide between eating & buying the meds to keep themselves alive.

I've been sick & whatever I picked up while out & about...I sure hope no one else gets it.  It has NOT been fun.  I'm still not over it, but I had to get up to take my daily meds.

as to your other point, i agree.  the right may have created a monster they can't control.  i have to remember that most of the business community would never have gone along with J6.  it is bad for business.  but it happened.
