I'm not surprised he got dropped. I was a fan of Adam's back in the 1990's and early 2000's. I have an autographed Dilbert book and an autographed Dilbert print (that has hung over my desk since the 90's). Dilbert kind of went the way of "Garfield" for me in the mid 2000's ... same old same old... but I still kind of had a "warm remembrance of the old days" when I enjoyed/looked forward to seeing a comic or hearing news about Adams. Somewhere along the line his real life quotes and non-comic related books/stories started going to places that didn't really jive with my personal life experiences or with my social/political views. I moved on to other comics - but kept my Dilbert book and print. At some point (2014? or 2015?) I was surprised to come across Scott Adams again - but this time what I read was all red flags - just under what he was saying was racism and nationalist/populous views. There were lots of celebrities/politicians spouting this stuff - trump made it OK to do so - cause trump was saying it too. It made me sad. Anyway here's this: www.cnn.com/2023/02/25/business/dilbert-comic-strip-racist-tirade/index.htmlOn a positive note - perhaps the newspapers dropping Adams will pick up one (or more) of some newer comics in his place. Give a new crop of creative artists a place.

I read the linked article, and I still don’t know what to say about the OP. I guess good riddance to bad rubbish? This shit has become rather exhausting for me.
That doesn’t mean I want people to stop talking about things like this, I appreciate that these things are being addressed and talked about. I’m just saying that I am very tired of all the ways that we are still fighting racism in this day and age.

I got home from work, logged on to the WP and read the story. (You aren't missing much if it's behind a paywall. The WP didn't feel the need to elaborate much. Adams flamed out very publicly twice this week and you can check out Youtube if you really want the gore. FWIW, I have not felt the need to check it out.) I jokingly asked my SO if he wanted me to go out and get the last Sunday paper with a Dilbert strip in it. Ten minutes later, he told me that he'd checked out five of the most recent strips and they all had a mean and dark edge to them.
Good riddance bad rubbish.

I swear on the head of my beloved beagle, that I did not read Pink's post (posted approximately seven minutes before mine) before posting my own.
I think that it is pretty amazing that we both turned to the same phrase.

I watched part of his rant. I don’t know which “survey” he was referencing, so I can only suspect that it was taken out of context or maybe it was a poorly executed survey. But Scott Adams thoughts on the subject were disgusting and sadly so many people seem to agree with him. It breaks my heart that our society is so callous and horrifying.
Anyone know what survey he is using to definitively prove that black people are a “hate group”?

Plus - he is now whining that he has no income - two thoughts on that….
If I walked into work and said one quarter of the stupid shit he said, I also would no longer have an income.
And (2) I suspect he will have plenty of income doing some racist podcast or some other offensive media show. Maybe Fox will give him a prime time slot and he will have more income than ever.

He forgets actions have consequences. He can do what he wants. There is no requirement that anyone pays him

I’m just saying that I am very tired of all the ways that we are still fighting racism in this day and age.I'm tired of discovering what seems to be a never ending flood of people who seem to happily hold racist views. Both in my real life and in the celebrity world/people who have a wide audience even if they aren't considered a "celebrity". We aren't making progress. I know humans all have flaws and faults. But so many people seemingly embracing something that is viewed as a flaw AND LITERALLY CAUSES PAIN AND SUFFERING/HURTS OTHER PEOPLE. It's not seen or view or treated as a flaw. Apparently there are a lot of evil people in this world. I had kind of built my "world view" around the idea that people were "good" at their core. but I'm seeing more and more evidence that maybe people aren't "good" at their core. Apparently inflicting pain and suffering is considered "good" by a lot of people these days.

I loved Dilbert back in the 1990s. recently, it’s just been mean and not funny I haven't read the strip in years and years. But I have noticed that being mean is considered funny for a lot of people. It's not a new thing (being mean being funny or good). But, it's crept into a lot of popular culture. And is common place.

Which is weird... because I believe he had some strong "anti government taxation" feelings and seemed to lean Libertarian... I strongly suspect he's structured his "money/savings/investments/royalties" in such a way that he has had as little "income" as possible for decades in order to keep as much of his money as possible while living a very comfortable life.
So, him whining about "not having any income" makes me want to play the world's smallest violin for him. I doubt his life is going to change much.

And, he's been writing this comic strip for years, has published books, and has merchandise. I can't imagine he doesn't have some cash stashed away. If he doesn't, well, then maybe we should sign him up for Dave Ramsey.

he can go buy an island somewhere and, to paraphrase Scott Adams, leave us the fuck alone.

I wonder if Adams' was doing something strategic - to get out of contracts?
Does being dropped mean he is now freed from obligations/commitments and able to pursue work he would rather do that fits more in line with his political views?
