Maybe part of the problem is they don't know how to plan. Most EVs have a range around 300 miles. This is what I got for mileage when I googled their trip length from Orlando to Wichita -
1,397 miles · Light traffic · 18 hr 50 min
Given that, they should have expected at least 4 to 5 charges anyway. Right now, I don't think EVs are a good choice for a long trip. I don't know where they charged, but some places will limit how much they will allow you to charge. That may have been a factor as well. So, 6 times to charge instead of 5 is not much of a difference.
Poor babies, it cost them possibly as much as $180 to go 1400 miles?

The extraction and burning of oil is not environmentally friendly........we know that..... but the extraction of lithium is not environmentally friendly either. Its not easy to dispose of and if it catches fire you won't be able to put it out.
If this was hailed as our future .....think again.
I'm waiting until they come up with something better.

When the temperature is below a certain point the batteries won't charge but go into a warming cycle first. That adds to the charge time.
