I was surprised to see the CDC broke up the "High" category into High and Very High. That said - it looks like Flu season is in full swing with a number of states with High or Very High reporting of flu. And it's not even the end of November. www.cdc.gov/flu/weekly/usmap.htmADDED: from the website: This system monitors visits for respiratory illness that includes fever plus a cough or sore throat, also referred to as ILI, not laboratory confirmed influenza and may capture patient visits due to other respiratory pathogens that cause similar symptoms.
So, it may not be reporting Influenza alone. I haven't bumped into any "news" reports about the Flu (there was a lot of noise about children and RSV and full hospitals but no mention of Flu). If you haven't bumped into any either - the flu map provides some info on how likely you are to "bump into" the Flu virus. Especially since the Season of Parties is getting under way. As an aside: Locally, I've noticed more people with masks on - and since I attend live theater events the polite request that masks be worn while at the event are starting to appear in more prominent places. Masks are worn by all the "workers" at events. There isn't any mention of Covid19 - just that wearing a mask is strongly suggested.

We have had patients admitted to the hospital with influenza. Season has started early. Have also seen multiple adults with RSV. Our COVID positivity rate on samples tested has been running between 4-5% for 6 months.
The CDC tracks visits for respiratory illness during the flu season. It usually tracks influenza rates very well. We usually did not test people for the flu if they had typical flu symptoms when URI rates spiked. It is going to be more difficult this year with COVID, flu, and RSV. Expect it to be a bad winter for respiratory illnesses

Yep, flu death claims have increased and it's early. Gonna be a very rough flu season. Crossing my toes that we get thru nov/Dec fairly well so my bonus is higher. I worked hard this year.

Flu A went thru our house earlier this month. Hubby & I both had Flu A. He went down with it first, I got it 4 days later. I was down a full week with it. Missed an entire week of work. He missed two weeks of work & his flu turned into pneumonia. His first week back at work was really hard on him & he had a few set backs with coughing & just feeling like shit. It sucked hard core, but wasn't nearly as bad as the first time I had covid.
