Meanwhile a millionaire takes the money from the have nots to build a volleyball court. He also took money for speeches he never gave. What a POS.

I wondered how long this would take to get traction. I saw an article about this before we left on vacation.
I can’t imagine how he thought that this wouldn’t be found out……idiot.

He was previously in trouble for Medicare and Tricare fraud for a compounding pharmacy he was part of. No surprise the guy is shady.

Brady's marriage may be on the rocks because he refuses to retire. I don't blame her. Time for him to concentrate on his family

But....but....he found god!!! A godly man wouldn't steal food from the hungry and the poor, would he?He would, but he'd tie himself in knots and blather a bunch of "scripture" to justify what he did and to prove that he "deserved" to be given everything he might want because he's been "saved". Then he'd produce that smug little smirk, the trademark of grifters and bullies everywhere. We all know that smirk. Also, he pronounces his name wrong. That has always been annoying. I never liked him.

Maybe it only got covered in my neck of the woods. I googled. It wasn't . It made it to the UK That's a pretty tame article. I'm betting that the number of people in this world that don't abuse their power...we can count them on one person's hand.

People who steal from the poor are particularly despicable. And, for some reason, they seem to feel justified in victimizing the defenseless.

The whole "I worked for a living" and "I pay taxes" line of crap these jerks use to justify theft from programs intended to help the truly poor and destitute is just a dog whistle to the rest of their ilk. It's code for "I deserve this money more than some non-white racial demographic, single mother, mentally or physically disabled citizen, veteran with untreated PTSD or other disability (this one's tricky--they usually just lump them in with the homeless), the mentally ill, and every other vulnerable group that bullies target. It evokes Reagan's welfare queen trope and everyone knows what they mean.
It's not unlike the abortion bans. The cruelty is the point.

And his poor daughter is being persecuted. That's a recurring theme with the crowd that claims to have a direct line to their deity. They try forcing their religion on everyone through legislation, but the minute they get called out for, you know, committing a CRIME or (and this is probably even more horrifying to them) being asked to treat people with common decency by using their preferred pronouns or simply leaving people alone to live lives that are harming no one, all of a sudden they start screaming that they are being persecuted and everyone expecting them to behave like decent human beings is being disrespectful to their imaginary friend. Nothing is ever their fault, and they are always the victims. Not at all surprised that, having "found god," Brett has also adopted the automatic persecution response.

Most people do work and pay taxes that are on the various social programs. Percentage-wise there are more white people on these programs than there are of people of color.

And his poor daughter is being persecuted. He's trying to use his daughter as a shield. Since he is so well off from working why doesn't he just fund the thing and put his name on it. Or if he can't afford that, fund raise to get it done. Stealing from the working poor who need assistance because their employers don't pay them enough, or they can't get enough hours, or currently rent and food are so outrageous is heinous. I like volleyball but a state of the art facility is not a need of the working poor.

Most people do work and pay taxes that are on the various social programs. Percentage-wise there are more people on these programs than there are of people of color. Of course they do, but acknowledging that would mean accepting some responsibility for the fact that working people cannot afford life's basic necessities, which would destroy their simple good vs. evil story. In their world, poor people are poor because they are evil and "sinful" in addition to lazy and greedy. That story sustains them and absolves them of having to view people who have not had their advantages or privilege as actual humans deserving of respect. Also, acknowledging it could mean their taxes might go up a fraction of a percentage point, which would, of course, ruin them. Doubling down on the cruelty and the lies is so much more profitable.

Favre is just the public face of the scandal. Mississippi officials have stolen about 94 million dollars of federal funds intended to go to programs for people people. 1 out of 5 people in Mississippi live in poverty. 28% of the kids. It’s one of the poorest states. Yet only 1% of the people qualified to get federal TANF dollars actually get it, because Mississippi has added so many difficult hoops people have to jump through to actually get the money (Georgia does the same thing). Poor people don’t bother to apply, the odds of actually getting approved for any are so low. So Mississippi has plenty of that federal money to divert over into a variety of special projects. 94 million dollars. www.washingtonpost.com/sports/2022/09/27/brett-favre-mississippi-welfare/
