I'm ok with it either way. I only gave the link for IF you wanted to combine. I don't worry so much about dupe / similar topics when they're not politics or current events related.

I see why you think Newbie has spooky eyes. They are very different. Newbie has eyes like Data on star trek, but i don't think they're spooky.

Newbie is gorgeous! And Boy is adorable. I adore Newbie’s ears! I didn’t realize they stood up. I’m not that familiar with the pittie type breeds so I thought their ears kinda flopped forward halfway up. Between those ears and her eyes she’s quite striking.

I'm so glad Boy has increased his weight. And even happier that the vet had "The Talk" with Mister about treats and table food. Excess weight causes problems for animals just like for people-heart issues, sore joints etc.

We just got home from the vet. Mister had Newbie’s leash, I had Boy in my arms. Newbie pooped on those nice folks’ Welcome mat! Mister was mortified. LOL! It was funny because he was SO embarrassed. $540 later….. Boy still has roundworms, which was not unexpected. He got another round of dewormer and a couple more vaccines. He has to go back in 3 weeks. Newbie got her annual exam and vaccinations. She has allergies, which we already kinda knew. She has pink and red spots on her underside and the bottom of her paws. A few of them are crusty looking, so she has to take steroids and antibiotics. She got another 6 month supply of Heartguard and flea and tick stuff. She does not have worms. Boy got samples of Heartguard and the flea and tick stuff. That’s a lot, but I was still shocked at the cost. Everything I’ve read says that at Boy’s age it is very, very important to socialize him. Idk how I’m supposed to do that though when I can’t even talk him for a walk yet because he hasn’t had all his shots. The lady assisting the vet told Newbie she was giving her an award for the easiest dog of the day since she didn’t have to wrestle with her. I was proud of how well behaved she was. We’re just going to ignore how she left that package at the front door, mmmkay? Do you have visitors at the house? Even the kids coming to play with her will help with socialization. Once he has his shots, maybe find a dog park nearby.

We got a dog stroller on craigs list to walk devil dog until he had his shots. I'm not really sure how much it helped. It is a big one and attaches to the bikes like a trailer so we can still use it at least.
You can take him to home depot or Lowes, bring a blanket to line a cart with and walk him around there. (Eta - put the puppy in the cart - that I actually thought was helpful).
I also did some kid playgrounds super early mornings before anyone was there and walked him on the ramps and different surfaces. I felt like that was pretty low risk but dh didn't love it.
We printed a list of "100 things your puppy should be exposed to" and used that during those first few weeks. A lot of it was stuff we could do at home - umbrellas opening, someone walking with a cane, hmmm other stuff that I can't remember at all.
If newbie is well socialized he'll learn a lot from her.

Socialization doesn't mean only meeting with people and other animals. It includes getting an animal used to ordinary parts of the human world, like vacuum cleaners and noisy appliances; car rides; noisy vehicles; lawn mowers; just living in an ordinary household. You are already doing all that. Meeting people can wait a bit until he is fully vaccinated.
And Newbie will help show him how to behave.

Boy said thank you for the compliments on him and his big sister. msventoux we call Newbie a catdog because of her eyes and some of the things she does. And sometimes she makes faces like a human. She is definitely one of the more interesting dogs I’ve had lol. swamp you are welcome to smoosh them anytime! soupandstew what the vet said about food must’ve really stuck with Mister because he mentioned it today and said he needs to eat better himself lol. No we don’t have many visitors. The dog stroller sounds interesting, I’ll have to think about that. I’ve been trying to think of places I can take him inside with me, I didn’t think Lowe’s or Home Depot would allow it. Maybe just in the nursery area? That reminded me that the huge nursery near me doesn’t mind dogs. The grounds are gravel, so I’d have to carry him, but he’s so tiny that’s not a problem. I think I’ll take him there on my next days off work. But then I might want to buy stuff….. I know part of it is just exposing him to all the stuff we do around our house too. Today, I had him in the driveway with me while I checked the pressure in the tires on my car. He did not like the sound of the air compressor. Then the sirens went off like they do weekly, to make sure they work. He took off running again when they came on. I jumped myself, because it startled me lol. When he runs because some noise scared him, he doesn’t run far. He either runs to the garage door even if it’s down, or toward his potty spot which is near the gate to get back on the deck and into the house. If I’m not near the source of the sound, he runs to me and sits between my feet if he can. He can officially get up all the steps to the house by himself now. And he’s coming along with the housetraining. He started whining in his crate last night around 1am, Mister got up and took him outside, he promptly did his business, they came back inside, Mister put him back in his crate and Boy went on back to sleep. He didn’t use it in his crate while we were at work either. That always surprises me because that’s a long time for a little guy like him to hold it. I think he will be a great addition to our family.

Boy and Newbie have been playing ever since I got home. He chases her, then she chases him. All around the deck. It got on my nerves enough that I took them out in the yard so they could run around there.
But Boy isn’t sure about being out in the yard, so that didn’t work.
The way Newbie is playing with him now, is how she plays with DS’s tiny dog.
Boy is really tiny, but he is not afraid. Even when she sends him flying across the deck by knocking him over with her head, he comes right back. He’s barked at Newbie and tried to growl at her. Boy hush with those little bitty noises lol.

There is a tiny dog in this picture, wrapped up in the water hose. There he is. I don’t think I’ve ever been as happy for Mister to get home as I was today. Boy is worse than a 2yo toddler. I wish I wasn’t so clumsy with my phone and taking pictures and videos. Earlier, Newbie was laying at one end of the deck and Boy was at the other end, creeping up on Newbie as if she wasn’t looking right at him. He was crouched low and moving slow, like he was stalking her. And when he got close, he pounced! She was ready, because she was watching him the whole time. It was really funny though. By the time I got my phone together to record it to show Mister, it was over. Mister was just out in the yard playing with the flirt pole with Newbie. I am SO glad I stumbled up on them and bought one. It is such an easy way for us to get her to run and jump. And get tired. I had Boy out there too, and he was running around like a nut, even though he didn’t understand the game lol. Hopefully they will both sleep well tonight.

When I correct Boy for biting on my feet and shoes, or biting on Newbie, he stars licking on me. Ewwww! As much as I love dogs, I do not like dogs licking on me. But I let Boy do it when he does it after I correct him about biting. Licking is better than biting, but it still grosses me out. He’s very lucky he’s so cute.

I'm not comfortable with face licks. However, if you watch a documentary on wolf pack behavior, the subordinate wolves greet the pack leader by licking his/her muzzle. Maybe Boy is saying he recognizes your authority after you rebuke him for bad behavior.

LD, not so much. I swear, Ginger's tongue is as long as her body, and it all comes out when she's super excited to meet an old friend! lol...

He doesn’t lick my face, he can’t reach it lol. But when I correct him for biting, he licks my hand or feet, whichever one he was biting on. I don’t really like it, but I allow it because at least he’s stopped biting. He hops on Newbies bed in our bedroom every chance he gets, and we always make him get off. Last night, Newbie was sleeping in her bed and Boy hopped on it and nudged her head. She raised her head and he tucked himself under her. She put her head back down, resting on his body, and they both went to sleep. It was so cute!

Newbie tends to run around more and play with children and other dogs. She seems to “come to life” when she’s running free in the backyard, and around children and other dogs that want to play. Otherwise, she’s pretty much a slug. So hopefully they continue to get along well and be playmates.

Mister says he can’t tell Boy has grown since he came home, but I can tell. I need to figure out how to take pictures at the same angles if I want to track his growth. But for now, these will have to do. This is today Compared to a few days after he came home. Really the only difference you can see on these pictures is that his face isn’t quite as babyish now. He’s 9 weeks old today. He was 6 weeks in the bottom picture.

You can come let him lick your hand whenever you like, to give me a break. He is worse than a 2yo human, because he’s so busy and small that we keep losing him. Sometimes I’m looking all over the deck for him, trying to see what havoc he is wreaking and he is laying down under my chair lol.

Since we moved his crate to our bedroom, I’d been carrying him outside when I let him out the crate because it’s so far and I don’t want him to stop and do his business along the way.
Mister doesn’t carry him, so I tried it myself the last few days, and lo and behold, when I let him out of his crate, he runs through the house, straight to the door to go outside.
I still pick him up and carry him off the deck and out the gate, to his potty spot and he immediately pees wherever I sit him down. Getting him to poop is another matter and requires some patience.
Part of me wants to make him come down the steps himself, but when Newbie really wants to get away from him, she goes down the steps knowing he won’t follow her. Plus, there’s still an opening to get under the deck that Mister hasn’t closed up even though I’ve been bitching about it since we first moved here. Newbie use to use the opening to explore under the deck, but she was bigger than Boy. I don’t want either of them going under the deck now that I know that’s where those things that shall not be named like to hide. And there is a short row of bushes down there that at least 1 thing that shall not be named was hiding under, so I’m just not comfortable with Boy going down there while he’s so small. I don’t even like walking past those bushes at night myself, because that part of the walkway is dark and idk and can’t see what’s under the bushes.
But at the same time, I feel like it would be better for Boy to not be afraid of going down the steps without me carrying him. I know he can do it, he comes up those same steps by himself, and he goes up and down the steps in the garage by himself, even though he sometimes whines about going down, because he’s afraid. I just stand in the garage and wait for him to figure it out and do it, instead of rescuing him.
I’m going to ask Mister again to close the opening under the deck and maybe get some cheap solar lights or something to light the walkway near the bushes, so Boy can start going down the steps without me carrying him.

I see changes in the Toddler seeing him once a week that his parents don't see in terms of his size. Definitely makes a difference in your perspective.
