I just got this peeler: Sur La Table Peeler It is a very good peeler inasmuch as it takes off just a thin layer and moves smoothly and efficiently along the contour of the potato and the peelings do not get jammed up in the blade. Using this peeler required considerably less swearing than any peeler I have ever used. Right up until The Incident, that is. It is so sharp and efficient that constant vigilance and care are required when using it in order to avoid another senseless peeling accident in which the tip of one's index finger is removed. I am learning how to coexist with the peeler's potential for mayhem, and there have been no further Incidents. (The good news is that the wound finally stopped bleeding after about 3 hours.) They also have this OXO peeler OXO Peeler and another one. Their prices might be higher than other places. I think Costco has a version of the first peeler for a lower price. I had a gift certificate, so I was shopping with wild abandon. Acquiring the perfect peeler is Very Important. I hope you are able to find your peeler soul mate.
