a 32x38" beveled mirror with a 2" frame?
just curious. I finally ordered one for my master bathroom. we shattered the old one (unframed) during renovations a few years back, and I never got around to getting a new one. I got a bit of a windfall this week, and this mirror was my "treat" before I throw the rest of the windfall at debt.
ETA: 32x38" is not a standard size. it has to be custom ordered.

For me this is a trick question because I'd probably make my own with a mirror from a second hand store. I don't know if I'm creative or just cheap, but I am picky and would know exactly what I wanted.
Retail, depending on the place could be $40 to a few hundred.

well, based on how much it cost to custom frame a huge picture, with a coupon, a few years back...I think it's probably about right. in this case, I'm buying what's in the frame as well as the frame itself.

Given that I just built 2 new bathrooms for my house...I'd go with $100 being about right. anywhere from 75-125 or so

well, I paid $450. I just priced the mirror itself on a couple different mirror retailers online, and they all came back with about $250 for just the mirror. my custom framing at a different place 9 years ago was about $150 (with a 60% off coupon!) for a 24x72" print.
I'm OK with the price, and I've seen the very good quality of work this place does. I was just wondering whether this is in line with what other people have paid for similar stuff. thanks!

Have you looked at places like JoAnne's or Marshalls? They sell stuff like that. So do lighting stores (for some strange reason.)
I can see that if you ordered it custom, it would be high. Then again, I would think if you shopped around you could find something you would like for a lot less.

yeah, all the discount stores have had really big, gaudy metallic frames for anything close to the size I need. the bathroom where this is going is yellow (upper) and white (beadboard lower and all wood trim) with chrome fixtures and white tiles. I definitely spent some time looking for a ready-made one, but really haven't liked anything I found. I wanted a wood frame, because I hate those little clear plastic screw-in things that can secure an unframed mirror to the wall. it was actually preferable for me to wait until I found something I wanted, and just use the mirror in my bedroom for makeup and such. since I'm planning to replace the carpets this year, I knew I needed a mirror in the bathroom first - I'm clumsy pre-coffee.....there's spots on the rug where I've dropped various colors.

Well, we all have our splurges so as long as you can afford it and it brings you happiness, then that's all that matters. I dislike staring at myself in the mirror to begin with, so the cheaper the mirror the better. ;D

I picked up a green cut glass mirror frame from Piers One a few years ago for $50, regular price $250. It had warped a bit and the mirror had broken. I had a mirror that could be cut down and put in it (XH was forever keeping stuff like that). It cost me $12 to have them put together. While I was in the glass place I saw the custom jobs and they started at $450. So for a custom job you did pretty good.

Chiver,
I am sure you did fine. I have several custom mirrors in my house with the beveled edge. I have a relative that works in a glass shop with the beveler machine and a very talented glass artisan.
I have a mirror that is 44x55 with sandblasted flowers across the top, a door mirror 24x67 with a hummingbird sandblasted on it and a strip mirror in each of my kid's rooms 14x60 one with wildlife on the top. The specific size is to fit an angle wall in their rooms. At wholesale I know I just about died at the price I paid. My relative that works in the store pointed out that the beveled mirrors in the big box stores are so cheap because they are very thin. She said they often look rippled when hung.
I am not sorry I bought the expensive mirrors. Just sorry I left a few behind in my last house figuring they might get broken in the multiple moves we had planned before landing in the current residence.

lol later, I have 2 old mirrors in my closet just waiting for the day that I find a use for them.
chiver, I have taken a new approach to home decor - I no longer SETTLE for things just to fill the space, but only buy things that I know I will be happy with and not want to replace next year.
And ICAM on the mirror holders. Frames are a must.
