Inflation Reduction Act and health care in America

DH and I buy our health insurance on the marketplace. We qualify for a $1300/month federal subsidy since we switched to the marketplace plan.  The subsidy was set to expire at the end of the year, but the Senate has extended the subsidy for three more years in the Inflation Reduction Act.  The Act also addresses Medicare being able to negotiate drug prices and an out of pocket limit of $2000 for prescriptions.

When the Affordable Care Act was passed, it allowed DH and I to retire.  Our health insurance options were no longer tied to a job.  This three year extension will take DH to Medicare age as well as saving our family some real money.

Good for you! You can really benefit from this. We have friends that will similarly benefit, especially from the prescription drugs provision.

I saw that. I wish the act would have gone farther (further?). But, this is still good progress.

Same but to get things passed these days we can't get everything that should happen.  

My ancient Senator is griping on Twitter today about missing his family reunion because he has to be in Washington this weekend.
