What/which posts? Listing one's gender is optional.

It seems that men no longer responding to these posts!!!!! Why would they? Look at the thread titles! Seriously, though, scroll through the thread list and see how many threads here were started by men and how many were started by women. Then do the same comparison on Your Money, Current Events, and Politics. I don't bother with most threads here. Simply put, I discuss issues far, FAR more than I would ever discuss personal interest or relationship topics. Those are the things I consider worthwhile to post about, and about which I can provide useful information. I doubt I am alone among male posters. For the most part, though, if you want to hear from male posters, you have to more often read the threads and boards they are more likely to post on.

It seems that men no longer responding to these posts!!!!! If you look at the avatars of some of those who have posted on your thread you will see the gender symbols for male and female. That is because in setting up their profile they noted their gender. I see that you did not identify your gender in your profile. So we don't know if you are a male or female. If you are reading posts or creating a post while using a cell phone, you won't see the gender symbols by the poster's avatar. Using a tablet or a desk top PC you will see the symbols.

tallguy I learned during the Iraq War not to try to convince another person of my opinion on a political issue. I don't look at the politics forum here for that very reason. I try not to post about politics but I don't always succeed.

I have in fact had people confirm to me that I have convinced them to change their positions. And you can bet that for every one that tells you that, there are several or many more who don't let you know. That isn't necessarily the only good outcome, however. The discussion itself (when it is actually a discussion) is often its own reward. Whether you begin to consider other aspects or viewpoints that you were not previously exposed to, or merely sharpen your own views from having to argue them and put them down onscreen, you can benefit from the exchange. There is also value to be gained by knowing what your opponents think, and by listening to those on your side rebutting it. Some people enjoy discussing. Some people enjoy learning. Some people enjoy arguing. Some are just trolls. Overall, though, there is value to be found if you make the attempt. Of course, for those who come here solely or even primarily to escape real life, you are probably best off ignoring everything I just said.

I think this might just be a ploy to get men to respond so we can be singled out in one place. 🤔 You want me to respond, don't ask a relationship/marriage question. I've been married for almost 30 years and I'm still trying to figure it out...
