Has anyone used it? It’s basically half the price of rental car agencies and I refuse to get ripped off.

yeah, i have used it once. it was for a rental in a desert area of CA. i rented a 4WD for a week. good clean car. the transaction was WEIRD, but it all worked.
word of caution: try to comply as closely as possible to pickup and delivery instructions. my renter got really mad at me because i was late picking his car up.

PS- sometimes the car agencies are competitive. but in MY case, it was just as you suggested, Turo was half the price. and i won't pay $100/day for a rental that should cost half that. it is just eating into my food and lodging budget.

I’m going to try it. I have Enterprise as a backup. Was the insurance a hassle?

Ended up with Enterprise. I guess I just wasn’t willing to take the chance.

I have used Turo, but my experience was kind of ideal. Rental Cars during Spring Break were just insane, so the Turo prices were around 50%. I only rented from an Experienced Host (can't remember what they call them) and the guy I rented from had it parked in the airport garage and the key was in a compartment in the hitch. We got our bags, walked out, found the car, and were off. It was the most amazing thing ever, especially since we are ALWAYS waiting in huge lines at the airport for the rental cars.
I would only rent in situations where I didn't have to meet up with the owner though, I don't want to meet them and get the keys, that's where it gets weird. As far as insurance goes, my car insurance (Allstate) covers Turo so I didn't buy their insurance. I thought I heard that Turo insurance doesn't work like Rental Insurance as it still has to go through your auto insurance first.
