The Supreme Court's opinion overturning Roe v. Wade on Friday could open the door for courts to overturn same-sex marriage, contraception and other rights.

In future cases, we should reconsider all of this Court's substantive due process precedents, including Griswold, Lawrence, and Obergefell," Thomas wrote, referring to decisions on contraception, sodomy and same-sex marriage.

"The right Roe and Casey recognized does not stand alone," they wrote. "To the contrary, the Court has linked it for decades to other settled freedoms involving bodily integrity, familial relationships, and procreation. Most obviously, the right to terminate a pregnancy arose straight out of the right to purchase and use contraception. In turn, those rights led, more recently, to rights of same-sex intimacy and marriage."

It's all going to shit now. I'm not surprised, many of us suspected this would happen eventually when Trump was elected.  Especially when he got three SC nominations.  It was over then.

Access to contraception, same sex relationships, same sex marriage - let’s undo all of those.

Apparently SCOTUS is in an internal uproar right now - John Roberts wanted incremental changes, he didn’t want to overturn Roe, but the conservative wing of the court is very ambitious and has seized control. www.politico.com/news/2022/06/25/chief-john-roberts-court-00039237

Roberts is keenly aware of how the country views the court, and knows that it appears to us that the court is making decisions based on politics and not on law.

He also knows if the people get angry enough, there will be a push to pack the court with more judges to dilute the rogue conservatives.

This may be a gift to the Dems in the 2022 midterms - or it may take longer for Americans to realize what the unintended consequences of throwing out Roe vs Wade will be. It make take several thousands of women dying from back alley abortions or from sepsis because they miscarried but can’t get a D and C because that’s an ‘abortion..’ Unfortunately, a big chunk of the country is too young to remember what it was like prior to Roe, and apparently can’t imagine what it will be like without it.

I think we should stop using this argument. They were presented with new legal theories and interpretation and carefully considered all the information and changed their minds.

I know they lied, you know they lied, they know they lied, everyone knows they lied - but their "out" by saying there was new info, and they gave that weight and thought before they ruled will be sufficient. The perjury argument has no feet.

I know they lied, you know they lied, they know they lied, everyone knows they lied - but their "out" by saying there was new info, and they gave that weight and thought before they ruled will be sufficient. The perjury argument has no feet.

We also knew they were lying during their testimony.  Anyone publicly proclaiming they believed the arguments was just using it as a cover for their actions.  If they did not understand what the intent was, they are complete idjits.  I think anyone who was interested enough to pay attention knew what was going to be the end result.
