I wasn’t sure where to put this, none of the currently active threads seemed like a good place. Billboards have popped up around Memphis, saying that Trump is coming to visit this month.😒 City council members are supposed to be requesting that the Memphis Police Department not provide a police escort because it’s not a good use of taxpayer’s money. The event is not being held in Memphis anyway, it’s being held in northern Mississippi, a few miles south of the state line between Tennessee and Mississippi. But he is probably landing at the airport in Memphis, hence the “need” for police escort from MPD. Memphis and the surrounding area is the little blue corner of a red state. Minorities are the majority in the area. So most people in the area don’t give a flying fuck about Trump. Some residents love his dirty drawers, but they are the minority. Imo, since the event is in Mississippi, he should land at an airport in Mississippi and have his faithful supporters there spend their tax dollars on police escorts for him. Or not. Idc if he has an escort or not, I just don’t want my local tax dollars paying for it. Would you be okay with your tax dollars paying to protect him if he was visiting somewhere near you?

No. Traitors and seditionists get no protection. If the city does want to do it though, get the money up front. Double the estimated amount, and refund him back anything over the actual charge. No tax dollars at all.

Let the traitor land in Olive Branch. There's an airport there. I have seen some billboard ads on TV stating Memphis Loves donald trump. In Memphis/Shelby County, trump lost to Clinton in 2016 and Biden in 2020. The love for trump has nor risen since then.

He often didn't pay for protection while he was in the office of the president. So, why would states want to be "stiffed" now? No, I wouldn't pay.

No tax dollars at all. That would be better, getting the money up front to ensure he pays for it himself. But Memphis has so much crime and also a shortage of police officers, so even if he paid for it, I believe MPD has more pressing concerns than to escort him. And I admit I’m biased, because I’m ok with police escorts for other high profile visitors. But for the sake of being honest, even if Memphis didn’t have the issues I mentioned, I’d still prefer that MPD didn’t provide a police escort for him. It’s a poor city that Republicans don’t give a damn about….. I get the impression that Memphis is a major pain in the Republican governor of Tennessee’s ass, and he’d be okay if that little corner of the state just fell off the map somehow. So why should the local residents be concerned about the safety and welfare of someone that clearly doesn’t give a fuck about them? Especially when the event isn’t even in their city, but in a much smaller city in a neighboring state. Boy, bye. Let your rabid followers volunteer their time and energy to escort and protect you. MPD has enough on their plates already with all the crime in the area.

No tax dollars at all. At this point any person/entity/venue that doesn’t demand payment up front deserves to be stiffed. It is widely known by now that he stiffs for everything, except for something that lands back in his own pocket.

Let his already being paid for Secret Service security detail guard his bulbous ass. And if that isn’t enough protection he can call Erik Prince and acquire more on his own nickel.

Always amazing to me that a president who claims to be a magnificent capitalist businessman is always screwing other people out of money.
I remember a couple cities and venues were suing his campaign for money he refused to pay. Wonder whatever happened to those lawsuits.
Memphis would be smart to get cash in advance.

It's not amazing to me. That's how he keeps his money. It's easy retain money when you don't pay your bills. What I find amazing is that people still think he's an amazing businessman.

It was known even BEFORE he was elected that he stiffed his contractors left and right. The voters just chose to ignore that or worse proclaimed it smart business practices. His four years in power have done nothing but make his slimy grifting worse.

On the afternoon of June 18 I'll be chanting 'Trump is Leaving! Trump is Leaving!' Have you seen billboards on your side of town? My eyes kinda cross or something when I see the billboards as I drive toward my home. They are only on the expressway, but they still make me feel some type of way. I am trying to work on that, not letting stupid shit bother me.

I saw some billboards on TV which read 'Memphis Loves Trump' but don't know if they are real or not because Memphis/Shelby County did not go to trump in the 2016 and 2020 elections. Will the billboards you have seen of the Big Lie event be seen by trump when he travels from MEM Airport to Southaven?
