Interesting week. March was a world of hurt in the markets. Will May, or at least the first week of May rebound?
Oil is down $3 a barrel this morning, stock futures are trending positive, but that can change in a NY minute as we all know.
Moderna and Pfizer both report this week. Will they disappoint on doses of the vaccines being used? Maybe.
The Fed makes their announcement Wednesday, and it can go either way. Markets like it and expected it and goes up on a relief rally. The markets may hate it and dive....
I was down to three picks. RROC, oil stock, BLL, aluminum manufacturer, mostly in retail market product use and both companies report this week.
Then there is CLF, a steel maker.
Question is, go with BLL, but do they report costs are hurting them. CLF, would just be a rebound from a bad week.
Ranger Oil peeks my interest. A smallish stock cap, not a lot of trading volume, and produces oil, liquid natural gas and natural gas. Natural gas prices are on fire right now.....Most major oils had a negative week, but I do not see oil prices trending downward yet. At $90 to $100 a barrel everyone is printing money, unless they have longterm contracts with companies buying their product at lower prices in forward months.....

if i were holding UNG, it would have sold this morning at $27.31 (open). now i have to see how far it retreats. Natural gas is still on fire. Oil sold off a little today, but by the end of the week, it might be hot commodity again. |

Getting a little worried about my steed this week. Opened hot this morning out the gate and been dropping back in the first turn..... This is an oil and gas steed, and should be bolting around the first turn today. Traders might know something I do not..........I hope I do not have to see this.  |

i am really shocked that gas reversed itself. it was down 2% last night.
edit: it looks really toppy to me. i expect it to retreat to $26.
edit2: gas and oil are both up over 5%. dow is approaching a 1000 point gain. this is pretty nuts.

Okay, This market is really messed up.
My steed opened at $35 and dropped from there until the afternoon, even though oil and ng were strong.
After the fed announcement looks like everyone's horse kicked in to turbo mode.......
Now we wait to see if the markets have a hangover from today......

the after hours action looks terrible. but it did yesterday, too. so..... WHO KNOWS? Europe bounced on our action yesterday, but to see futures down after such a rise is not a surprise. 900 point rise in the DOW deserves a pullback, hopefully just a little one. We are heading over to the Daytona Beach area for the weekend to see my sister's family, as well as my brother and his wife coming from Indiana for the weekend today. Promised my self to leave the laptop at home and do some serious beach time with everyone and adult beverages. Might check out the Margaritaville complex being built there too, but my sister says, BLAH! to it. She would know! Hate traveling on Cinco D Maya, but it is what it is. It does leave us the evening to let loose. Good luck to everyone on the last two days of the contest. It should be an interesting end to and interesting week!  Hopefully back for Monday's opening! |
