I think it's interesting that as of February 2022, only 56% of Republicans are vaccinated, compared to 92% of Democrats.

Looks like the NJ data point doesn’t jive with worldmeters deaths/million which days NJ higher than NY.

Looks like the NJ data point doesn’t jive with worldmeters deaths/million which days NJ higher than NY. Worldometer is from the start of the pandemic. If you look on the side of the graph, they are taking a period from April 19, 2021 to March 1, 2022.

it has been this way since the virus hit those states. they never took it seriously, and paid the price for that.
unfortunately, so did the rest of the US. if it were not for the red states, we would be getting a C or better grade on the virus. if it were not for the blue states, we would be getting an F.
we are getting a D-.

There have been other stories that cover the extent to which the partisan skew of an area effected covid death rates. I believe that the NYT did a spate of them six months ago and the Atlantic did the same at about the same time. The earlier stories tended to use county-level data instead of state-level data and they were much more candid and careful about how the date range mattered. That is, they didn't shy away from how blue states got hit hard in the first wave and when vaccines became widely available. They were also semi-paywalled. Both publications are generally pay-walled but offered free coronavirus coverage to anyone who signed up for it.
I don't have links for any of those stories and I regret it. I really wish that I could demonstrate how incredibly late, cheap and crude these articles are compared to those.
