What the World Will Be Like in a Hundred Years
It's from the Library of Congress. It's fascinating how much the author got right,... and how far off other things are. Synthetic foods - yeah. Food pills instead of meals, not exactly. The servant problem of the day led to an interesting view of housework in the future: unionized orderlies (paid as well as a stenographer and called "Miss") who works 7 hrs a day for a household. The majority of people would live in 50-60 story multi-unit buildings in cities with a glass roof to control weather. These big blocks of housing would have planned community services integrated, down to laundry, mending, cleaning, cooking (beyond food pills) and childcare. He believed there would be more women serving in Congress, as judges, and choosing to have careers because they want to. Birth control legal worldwide. Divorce, too. But women still not yet equal.
