Do you know anyone that might possibly be alone during the holidays? Please be considerate and acknowledge them. Send a text, call them. If you aren't Covid paranoid, invite them over or go visit them. Bring a plate of food or cookies. Take precautions.
What about a cousin in another state? What about your widow neighbor? There are other people in this world. Not everybody has their own little happy and content family holiday gatherings. Please think about them.
I heard suicide rates increase over the holidays. Sometimes all it takes in showing someone that you care and you think about them.
(This is a sore subject for me. Triggering. Selfish people upset me.)

There are those who might be alone at Christmas and those who might be lonely. I'm the former and not the latter. Christmas is just another day to me. Valentine's Day, on the other hand, is when I wish there was someone to whom I was significant.

Me. In person service changed to online due to rising Covid cases and concern for attendees. Not that happy about it, but certainly not depressed either.

In years past, pre-Covid with another church, sometimes I helped organize TG dinners. At the time I never thought about doing similar for Christmas Eve or Christmas day, but I should have. Patients and elderly people also tend to die more often at this time of year or any milestones like birthdays, anniversaries. My Dad can drive to the sibling who is hosting the meal. I don't have the $$ to fly, nor would I want to. My desire to travel by plane for Christmas or TG has really dropped. If I had the $$, I'd like to do what I know someone else does. They go down to Cape May NJ for Christmas. I like Cape May. Have never been for Christmas and stayed over. |

I spend Christmas alone. The only human interaction I will have is FaceTime with the Toddler and his parents.
I will also receive the obligatory text from my sister about 3:30 or 4 PM inviting me over. She pulled that at Thanksgiving. I will not be responding. At Thanksgiving I gave her the out of saying she invited me and declined. Not giving her that tomorrow.
I enjoy sending and receiving Christmas cards but I dread Christmas Day.

That is part of the problem with my sister's family. Yes, the cats are better company.
If the Toronto family had come, they were planning on spending Christmas with me as they can't deal with 6 or 7 hours of opening presents.

I was speaking with a police officer at the gym yesterday, he was dreading having to work today and tomorrow. Not because he would be away from family, but because these two days are the highest suicide number days. He knew that's all he would be dealing with...so hard to grasp.

Keep remembering you have triplet nieces who need a loving role model, which you are. Their father may or may not be there for them in the future for important milestones that come along, but you can be!
You are also saving feline lives by the fostering you are doing and quite good at I might add! Those kitties deserve a chance at a happier life and you are giving it to them.
If you still have suicidal thoughts tomorrow, do call the hotline number and talk to someone. It can help.

A roast sounds really good right now. Don't forget to throw in some carrots and potatoes if you have them on hand. I also add Brussel Sprouts towards the end, but that may not be your thing.
