It's traditional for a local FM station to start mixing in Christmas music after Thanksgiving. A few years ago they decided to go all Christmas music between Thanksgiving and Christmas.  So I stop listening to them during this time. |

We had a station go to all Christmas music Nov 1. That's a full on "just no." |

 You're mean, Tenn. I used to work at a place that "relooped" the same music every 3 or 4 hours, so I was tormented with this song at least twice a day. There were a few others I didn't like, but this one was the worst.

Favorite song? It depends on the day...
Right now... I just can't get a very young Ella Fitzgerald singing "Santa Claus got stuck in my Chimney" out of my head... the juxtaposition between innocence and that double entendre... just makes me laugh.
And then pretty much anything by Annie Lennox, but this nod to the pagan/origins of the holiday in God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen makes me smile too.
(Love the Oak King/Holly King cycle of the seasons....)
But, really, Dean Martin is probably my favorite Christmas Blues:

that said, I do love Willie Nelson's Pretty Paper. that isn't one that ever got overplayed, and brings me very fond memories of driving with my dad and his 8-track in the old El Camino. I'm not sure I've ever actually heard the song after dad's 8-track player finally died, unless I actively sought it out.

I actually just looked up Pretty Paper so that I didn't get the earworm for *that* one. you're welcome. this thread got a girl who hasn't celebrated Christmas in decades past entertaining family who did, to look up a Christmas song on Thanksgiving night. well (?) done.
