Are any of the national chain pharmacies decent?
CVS is pissing me off, but if I jump elsewhere is it just SSDP?

My small town independent pharmacy is excellent. Do you have an independent option in your area?

Be sure to verify insurance coverage. Mine will only cover one 30-day prescription. After that, it must be mail-order.

Over the years, we went from Walgreens to CVS, and finally wound up with WalMart. Walmart was the only pharmacy that seemed to never have a problem filling the 90 day scripts without a few day's delay on a fairly regular interval unlike the other two companies. Sometimes they would give us 30 days or whatever, tell us to come back in three weeks and they would fill the rest. Then insurance would not honor it, because the original script was for 90 days, thus a week's fight to straighten the mess out.
Same for new scripts. Sometimes the two of them would say "we are out of this, and will take a few days to fill it". When you have a new script, you need it now not days later.......
Walgreens and CVS may be much better now, Idnk

Our local safeway is great (30 minutes away). Our in-town independent pharmacy is terrible.

We use Costco for mail order and occasional 30 day (or less) of drugs. There is an independent local pharmacy that I usually try to get my prescriptions filled at first - but many times they don't have what I need and it'll take too long for it to arrive (like some steroid eye drops I needed pre surgery).

Walgreens is annoying, always sending messages and calling that a med needs to be ordered 2-3 weeks after filling -,but I still have a month’s supply

I have one prescription that I use "as needed" and the doc authorized way too many refllls so I get the Robo-calls. I suppose you could opt out of that by telling the pharmacist.

I use a mail order company. I get three month supplies each time with automatic refill with no prompt from me. And when a prescription no longer has refills, the company contacts my PCP for a new prescription.
Works for me.

We use Rite Aid and like them. I never have problems getting a script filled except when I needed blood thinner injections after my surgery. They only gave me half of what I needed and I had to fight to get the rest.

We LOVED our local Walgreens. Then, the health insurance that DH's company has stopped covering them. Not happy with CVS. I want my Walgreens!

I had CVS refill 3 scripts that I had stopped. One was budesonide, which is expensive. I did nothing to let them reshelve. I told our local pharmacist and he said he'd help that situation.

I've used Walmart for years & seldom have any problems. Once in awhile they will be out of my inhaler, but they notify us as soon as it comes in. They are also great for shots like flu shots, shingles, covid, etc. And they put it on the network so my PC sees that I've gotten it.

For one-time prescriptions and vaccinations, I have had good luck with Walmart, Giant, and Safeway. I was pleased with the Walgreen's experience for my COVID vaccinations, especially since for the first 2 doses that was the only place I could get an appointment. I have heard good things about Costco and Sam's Club pharmacies but have never tried them myself. The local CVS pharmacy does not have a good reputation, but I get my regular meds through my insurance mail-order system, which is CVS, and I have never had a problem with them.

We also use Walmart. They have a drive through at the Neighborhood store and that's nice. I haven't had any problems with them filling or being out of my prescriptions. I routinely had problems at Walgreens. Our CVS is supposedly slow as well, I've never used them.

The pharmacy location up north calls us and tells us our scripts are ready even though we go in and tell them we are going to Florida for a few months and transfer it to the Florida Walmart. We also go in to the Florida WalMart and tell them we want our scripts moved here from up north when we get to Florida. Do the reverse in May as we head back north. Both Pharmacies still fill the 90 day meds when we are not there.........

I like Walgreen's. You can opt out of the refill notifications, by the way.

I use Walgreens. I don't get that many refill notifications. Now CVS on the other hand blows my phone up. I had to switch my grandma's from a grocery store to CVS bc of insurance changes. She was irritated by all the phone calls so I went and changed it to my phone number and texts. And they have changed the format to where a lot of the texts, the only option is to say yes. And when I ignore it, they resend it two days later.
