Yeah I don’t know why everyone hesitates to charge or convict a previous president. I understand an ex-president has never gone to jail before, but if he commits a crime, why wouldn’t he? Justice is supposed to be blind.

We’ve sent plenty of governors and congresspeople to jail. I’m sure judges as well. Trump has broken so many other norms, why not let him break this particular one as well. 

I know he couldn’t go in the general population, and he would require SS protection, but really, if we locked Trump in a plain, non gilded room with no access to social media or hamburgers, he’d be miserable. That would be good enough. 

Confine Trump to house arrest. A rather plain house. Zero fancy. Property fenced in surrounded by security. No electronics or house phones. Visitation once a month.

No physical contact with visitors including family. If allowed physical contact, vistors thoroughly searched before entry.

Meals brought to him or provide groceries which he prepares himself.

That treatment is a hell of a lot better than those incarcerated in jails and prisons.

You don't even have to have a stutter to have Biden's speech patterns.  I have ADD and my brain can get going way faster than my mouth does.  I will trip over or forget words not because I am a blibbering idiot but because I got out of sync.   If I am doing any kind of formal speaking I need notes and I talk much more deliberately and slowly than I would if I were talking to a friend.

I would definitely make sure to use a prompter if I was in an important position like the president.   I WANT someone who is focusing on what he says regardless of the reason.  

We want to talk blibbering idiot there is countless footage of Trump not being able to form a coherent sentence to save his life.   Where is the endless debate about his cognitive abilities from the conservatives?

My husband fell off a bike and into rip rap, breaking a finger, simply because he forgot to put a foot down when the bike stopped. He was 55 at the time. I saw Biden’s fall, and he was turning a corner, ran into a pack of reporters clogging the road and tipped over trying to stop suddenly.

I was much more concerned about Trump having to grab another guys arm to steady himself as he carefully minced down a ramp. He looked very shaky and frail.

Russian State TV Host Says 'All Our Hope' Placed in 'Beloved' Donald Trump

Russian state television hosts and commentators have commended Donald Trump—heralding him as "beloved" and referring to him as "our candidate"—just days after the former president publicly praised Vladimir Putin.

The footage was collated and posted online with English translations by Daily Beast columnist Julia Davis, who created the Russian Media Monitor watchdog. Her Twitter bio, which says she has been hit by sanctions from Russia, ends with the words: "I watch Russian state TV, so you don't have to."

Davis uploaded the clips to Twitter late on Monday night. Her caption read: "Meanwhile in Russia: watch these highlights from today's state TV shows. The Kremlin's pet propagandists hate America, love Trump, find him 'incredible,' say they place all of their hope in him and Russia should continue to support 'its candidate.'"

The footage begins with a clip of Trump addressing crowds being shown and then cuts to state TV host Evgeny Popov, who says: "Trump is an incredible guy." After another cut, a panel discussion is shown in which Moscow State University Professor Vitaly Tretyakov said: "I believe there is no real need for us here to rip the masks off European politicians and American ones, to a certain extent—except for our beloved Trump, in whom we place all of our hope that he might sober up America." There is another cut in the footage and state TV host Olgra Skabeeva says, apparently referring to Trump: "As always, our candidate doesn't let us down. We need to support him."

The enthusiastic support for the former American president came after he praised Russian leader Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping during a rally in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, on Saturday.

He told the cheering crowd: "I got to know a lot of the foreign leaders and unlike our leader, they're at the top of their game. These are like central casting... nobody [in Hollywood] could play the role of President Xi of China...He's a fierce person. Putin: fierce. They're smart." He went on to apparently praise the Authoritarian regime in China, by adding: "[Xi] rules with an iron fist 1.5 billion people, yeah I'd say he's smart."

It's not the first time Trump has revealed his admiration for Putin. He has previously heaped praise on the Russian president, who invaded Ukraine in February sparking a bloody conflict resulting in thousands of deaths, and has seen his country hit by a range of punitive sanctions by the west.

Speaking in February, Trump described Putin as "very smart" for how he had played the lead-up to the invasion, saying his strategy was "genius." A month later, during an interview with Fox News host Sean Hannity, he declined to condemn Putin for his actions.

Trump had previously praised Putin and Xi during a rally back in 2020 during his presidential campaign against Joe Biden. He said: "One thing I've learned, President Xi of China's 100 percent. Putin of Russia, 100 percent. These people are sharp and they are smart. Joe has lost it, in his best day he wasn't a smart man, everybody knows that."

Television is the main news source for most Russians, according to a 2021 BBC report into Russian media, with the top national TV networks all state-run or owned by companies with close links to the Kremlin. The two leading stations—Channel 1 and Rossiya 1—are both under government control. Journalists who criticize Putin or denounce the war with Ukraine have been detained and prosecuted, including Marina Ovsyannikova, a Russian reporter for Channel 1 who made headlines worldwide when she held up a sign during a live broadcast slamming the war and denouncing her "lying" station's output as "propaganda."

Donald Trump has demonstrated to the world for several decades EXACTLY who and what he is.  For some reason, you apparently cannot see it.  Here's a clue:  If you come upon a destroyed structure, with smoke rising from the ashes, scorch marks everywhere, melted residue, and hot spots underfoot, you can reasonably infer that there was a fire.  You don't have to actually see the flames to conclude there was a fire there.

My job never had anything classified, although I did have to follow certain rules to prevent insider trading. On any given day I saw a few dozen details on items I had an ethical duty to handle properly. Some of my colleagues could catalog more of the information in their heads, could remember the numbers, etc. The rest of us had more limited details committed to memory. I did, however, always know where to look - my notes, old reports and presentations, databases, etc. I often did not know the number, but could pull it quickly.

I can’t imagine how many details and how much paperwork a US President has to deal with on a day to day basis, but even for very smart people I can imagine there is quite a difference between seeing a portfolio with thousands of detailed secrets, being able to memorize the details perfectly and recall them months later vs having a copy of those documents that you could just refer to. Could Biden, Trump, Obama or Bush memorize the full list of names and aliases, locations and assignments of spys? Maybe - but would they also have a perfect index of nuclear secrets? And detailed military information? It seems unlikely that many people have that level of recall AND were skilled enough politicians to rise to the level of President.

Having seen the documents and having the documents are a false equivalency.

have you forgotten Lewinsky?  seriously- impeaching a president over perjury (in an instance where the only person harmed was HIMSELF and Monica) seems pretty minor compared to the graft that Trump was impeached for.

Clinton was also the last Democratic president i voted for.  but i have not voted for a Republican since then either, except in the primaries.  neither party seems able to field someone i can agree with.  that is what third parties are for.  if they want my vote, they should field better candidates.

I'm not a Republican although I might have been registered as one early in my voting career. I do not agree with Republican values at this point since they seem to mostly be about culture wars and pulling society back. Suppressing black votes while pretending there is a significant voter fraud issue that does not exist. Going after immigrants while continuing to fund the large employers that use them. Forcing births as a feel good fake Christian measure and actively making it harder to raise and fund unwanted babies. Oh and gun rights at all costs because who cares about school children and mass shootings? Need to have "protection" even if it is more likely to be used for suicide or against a family member.

Some of the Dem party platform goes too far for me but being an Independent in NJ did not give me much say in any election. Even so, its only recently that it felt like I had any impact on who got elected in state. Many of the places I have lived were and are Republican party controlled cities and counties. One of those counties had rampant corruption at the county level and only because of Trump have we been able to get rid of some of them. Dems are far from perfect, but they at least are not a party of active hypocrites.

I diddn't want Trump to run but I would never would have voted for Hillary. If we get a chance to have a woman president I would only want a republican. Then after seeing how this disgusting dem congress would turn anything into an impeachable offence is actually quite shameful.

No, it's not really.  Do you remember when Tillerson tried to tell him "no, you can't do that, it's not legal?"  John Kelly also tried to tell him "replace me with a Yes man, and you will be impeached"  What happened is he did just that.  After seeing how the disgusting Republican party turned from the party of law and order is actually quite shameful.  

Actually, seeing the Republican party elect anyone who would diss a gold star family like he did....shows exactly what this party of all about.  And it's not giving a care in the world about the country.

I think DJ is generous in his assessment. Who is worse than Trump? Boebert? MGT? Cruz? DeSantis? As much as I dislike Cruz I think he is not as bad as Trump. No one really likes him, but they would have not gone around him in his first couple years in office because he was clueless. And luckily one of the people who is worse than Trump, Bannon, has not been a candidate for office to my knowledge.

I did not approve of Hillary's war hawk ways, but to me that is preferable to a man who cozies up to dictators and gives them what they want because they know how to flatter his ego. 

If I lived in Washington state I wouldn't need to register for a political party. And with ranked choice voting we are seeing how unpopular some candidates actually are. I lost the link to a nice article on why Sarah Palin lost and how wrong she is about whining like Trump. The author pointed out that many of those who supported another Republican chose the winning Dem candidate over Palin in ranked choice voting. The system worked. Palin, who had a narrow base of support lost.

Actually, it is an old GOP majority Congress that got Clinton for perjury, an impeachable offense, while going after him for having an affair with an intern. Not illegal, not preferred or condoned in the US, until of course Trump. (I wonder who he has been having extra-martial relations with while in office. Its Trump, so it is one someone or several someones.)

So the Dem majority Congress used actual laws and real concerns to impeach Trump. Russia was pro Trump, and he could have been not guilty if he and his kids, administration, had not actively worked with them. Yes, he was not responsible for all Russian interference, however he is still culpable for the interference and help he sought. Including asking publicly for Russians to hack servers on his behalf to harm another candidate.

All the concerns have been legit and proven. However since we have a shameful butt kissing GOP congress, they refuse to impeach Trump no matter what he does, because its party over country for them. The hypocrisy is very strong in Rubio in defending Trump on holding his Top Secret docs especially contrasted to his vehement anti-Hillary speech over Hillary just receiving low level secret info.
The GOP went on a fishing expedition with Bill Clinton expecting him to perjure himself on the stand, which he did. Trump would do so too, except the Repubs are very good at being bad and doing things to avoid the consequences of their actions. Party of responsibility, not.
