Way back in 2015 I questioned why Trump would want to run for president, knowing it would put a bright spotlight on something that had always stayed carefully hidden - his business dealings. NY city is notorious for having a dirty, mobbed up real estate environment, and there was already evidence Trump and his father routinely cheated the tax man. It was stupid to draw further attention to it.

And here we are. Trump, like Al Capone, might go down for tax fraud. At least, unlike Capon, he won’t die from an STD thanks to antibiotics.

Say what you want about Mitch, but the man is a master of the political game.  I found this article interesting.  His friend interviews DeSantis, he subtlety diss Trump, and if the media brings anything up, it's fake news.  Puts Trump in a box where he can't name call DeSantis.  Trump can say what he wants about Mitch, but he is outmatched.

I agree and disagree. He has been unwilling since Trump has been elected to go public too much with his desires, basically pinning his hopes on the Dems without giving much if anything in return. This really is same shit different day for me. It's been six years. While he can outlast Trump and many others, a patriot he is not. 

We all know the current war will be DeSantis versus Trump. He's just exploiting that. Both are bad for the country and democracy.
Will there be support for a Biden equivalent come 2023? Maybe possibly probably not, as Mitch's political mastery is more for him than his country or even his party. He herds them well, but so has Trump.

In theory I think if the Republicans spit polished the turd and backed him DeSantis could outbid Trump for the nomination.  I do think a huge part of how Trump managed to slide in is the Republicans were too busy squabbling over a rather large pool of nominees.  Nobody thought Trump would win the nomination so there was no motivation to pick someone else.   I do think if they had paid attention Trump likely would have gone the way of Ross Perot.

Trump has been a handy puppet to get them where they wanted to go politically but he's becoming too much of a loose cannon they likely aren't going to be able to control him during a second round.  DeSantis is a better puppet to continue the Republican party forward in the image they have crafted for themselves.  He's a much smoother talking whackadoodle and they can appeal to the independents who voted for "Anyone but Trump" in 2020.

Yes, the GOP and others used his inexperience and ineptitude as President to pass sweeping GOP goals. Stacking the Supreme Court, cutting regulations, trying to portray the other side as crybabies. The list goes on. Trump's right-hand guy was Steve Bannon whose agenda literally is to destroy America and sow chaos. 

I don't think DeSantis will be a puppet either. He's more likely to have a clue. I don't want to be Florida, and I think it's telling that both men have made Florida their home.

Realize the fight in not just federal. It is past time for all good people to get out there and defend what's right in their state and federally.
I am not sure whether DeSantis is worse. I prefer not to find out. So, all you funded folks out there who don't want this should watch the erosion of rights at state level too. 

This is a fight on all fronts because it is obvious to the GOP what they are selling is NOT the will of the majority of the people.
