Assumptions about the use of ghetto and meanings in posts

If race was not relevant why did Miss Rigby specify that the coworker she was quoting was black?

What you are calling assumptions is actually subtext that happens throughout all communication. Trying to deny that subtext exists is disingenuous and an attempt to justify unacceptable commentary.

There was a very specific phrase. She said some thing like "I now understand my coworker that doesn't like to work there. She's black. If it's too ghetto for her it's too ghetto for me."

I will just add that there are some words used by some ethnicities or groups that are accepted usage within that group but are not okay to be repeated or uttered by members of other groups. 

I'm sure you don't need me to give you an example.

It pisses me off that people are saying I ASSumed something, including @missrigby. I did not ASSume anything. I provided a direct quote above. She said what she said, and it was problematic. All the temper tantrums do not change what was actually said, nor do they change that it was offensive. 

The adult thing to do would’ve been to own it instead of trying to change the story and go off about assumptions.
