When I moved we had some unusual requests, leave the treehouse, the trampoline, the pool, and the panels in the pasture. The pool and trampoline were noted in the listing the agent said to make and call it out in the sales agreement. The treehouse isn't actually in a tree but is a play structure built a little over 5' in the air and has a swing set off one side and slide down from the balcony. It would not be an easy thing to move, but we still called it out. I also specified that the chickens and the hot tub were to be removed.
They also left me 2 basketball hoops and basketballs, assorted pool toys, some outdoor lawn furniture and umbrellas. They also left me a cat which unfortunately passed away shortly after I moved in. There was also a whole assortment of crap left in the shop, sprinkler heads, pvc pipe, broken up pool hoses and chemicals. The blinds were left, most of the windows were bare when I looked at the house. They did take the panels that covered the patio door in the main bedroom, but I didn't care. My understanding is that the soon to be ex came in the day before listing pictures and gutted the place.

The lady selling the house we are in, had some really large items she bought for this house. A big storage type unit, custom made chairs and table with china cabinet. The unit for TV in a recessed area. An oversized couch, half chair and ottoman, and leather chair. They made the looks of the house, so we told them we would pay asking price if they left them. She said they were so big and heavy, she had nowhere to store them anyway. So it was a win for her and a win for us, I would have never paid that much for those items. The only piece after 10 years that is showing some wear is the half chair. Sadly DIL got hair dye on the ottoman and I have to cover it. I may take it somewhere and see if I can get it recovered in some color close to it, it's not worn.
The people that bought our house in Texas asked for the one lawnmower, we let them have it, we just used it as a trim mower anyway. If they tried mowing that big yard with that mower, good luck.
We don't quibble over stuff, unless it's some ultra expensive item, we will leave it. Not going to risk a sale for stuff. Lot's of sales have been killed over silly things.
Ours was a private purchase, no realtor involved. She had appraisals for the property and it was a fair value. Sometimes the extra items can affect the appraisal so some realtors just want the sale of items staying written up separately.

The people who sold us this house had our agent ask if we’d like for them to leave the tv in one of the bedrooms. It was mounted on the wall and it works. Sure. When we moved in, we saw they also left the basketball goal and fireplace set. We already had a fireplace set, but ok. Then we discovered they left lawn equipment, including a self propelled mower. That would’ve been nice, except we already had lawn equipment, including a mower, although theirs was a more expensive one. I like to think they were just being nice, since they moved into an apartment and couldn’t use the stuff anyway, but it was just more stuff for us to have to deal with. That is how we ended up with even more duplicates than just those that came from Mister and I combining households. Yeah, DS and DDIL got a LOT of lawn and garden stuff and assorted tools left in the garage when they bought their last house- the couple was moving to a retirement community where they didn't need it. I'd say about 1/4 of it is/was useful (DS and DDIL were moving there from a smaller house so they had some stuff) but they really need to do a clear-out. When I bought my house in NJ they left the pool table in the basement by prior agreement. They offered it, I said OK, but I'm sure they didn't want to pay to move it to their new place in FL. My employer paid to move it from NJ to KS but when DH and I downsized we "gifted" it to the new owners. I'm glad they accepted.

The end is near. They wanted to schedule closing for next Monday, but I still need to clean out the shed. I'm going away this weekend, so I scheduled the closing for next Wednesday to give me time to get my shit moved.
Hopefully I will be able to buy the misses a new pair of shoes next weekend 😊

I should probably start a new thread, but we are still on the close tomorrow. I'm willing to admit, having that money hit my account is a little daunting. I have no problem borrowing money, but getting such a large cash infusion creates a whole different set of concerns. I need to find a home for it.
I plan to pay off some small debts, but not only will I have a significant amount left over, I won't have monthly payments anymore (except for my primary home, which is less than 10% of my take home). This will free up significant monthly cash flow. I just hope I don't screw things up.

I had taken into account capital gains but didn't think the rest would be significant. It ate away the fun money portion of our overage I was looking forward to spending so not a huge deal but I wish I had run the #'s more seriously.

And with a stroke of a pen, we are now done. I still need to deposit the check, which I will do today.
It's strange to see it go, while I should be happy to no longer have to worry about it, I feel a strange sense of sorrow to have sold it. I didn't need it, didn't really want it in the first place (we wanted the land, not the house), I struggle with selling things. I recognize that make me a boarder line hoarder, but I'll get over it soon enough.
The new buyers started right in yesterday gutting the place, it's nice to see the old place have some life again. I'm anxious to see what they turn it into, and I know it will be much better than anything I had the time or energy to accomplish.
With this, the journey ends, but with surplus cash burning a hole in my account, another adventure awaits. Thanks for hanging out with me on the journey.

We were concerned my mom was going to become a house hoarder. When her brother died, she had to have that house. It was sold at auction and she paid way too much for it. That's why they took a loss when it sold.
When the next sibling died, dad and my sister and I had to talk her out of buying that house. Dad didn't want to own rentals and what else would they have done with a house in the same farm area? Certainly wouldn't be a vacation home.

Good for you, tractor. I understand about the mixed emotions. My house is being listed tonight. Five showings are schedule for tomorrow already, with more to come. And I am so tired from all the hectic preparation for the pictures being taken (due tonight, may not be until tomorrow a.m.) and now the showings.

Well, feedback for now is that at least 2 of the people who have seen the house are planning on making offers. We've got more showings today and the open house is tomorrow. Since the listing didn't really hit until early Friday it's going well, I think.

The people that bought our house are going to town on it. In just three days it has been completely stopped down to the bare studs and they are now starting the reconfiguring process.
I still need to go introduce myself, but I'm a little worried that they might think I screwed them over if they've uncovered some unknown surprises. On the other hand, I really want to know if they found any hidden treasures 😊

We'll be moving to Massachusetts where my sister and brothers live and I grew up. Now that I'm older I really want to live closer to them. THinking of a town on the beach off Buzzard's Bay.

Bonny , you might want to edit your post to remove the listing link considering finnime has done so (says the woman who shamelessly followed the link and admired the beautiful photos)

I can totally agree with this. My family was all from Arlington/Falls Church/McLean area and we spent so much time there. This home is beautiful Finnime and seeing it really takes me back there.

Inspection on our house was last week. We received the requests from the buyer today. The inspector listed the roof as having 5 - 10 years remaining, so the buyers want the roof replaced. The inspector also listed the crawl space as being difficult for him to navigate, so the buyers want the crawl space redesigned.
My husband rolled his eyes so hard they almost fell out of his head.
