I go through this every two years and after 45 years, one week and five days of ownership she passed again - whew! Wait. You've had this same car all this time? I'm always so relieved when I pass any type of inspection. Probably because I rarely have things that are new. Mostly because there's always a chance of failure. I'm happy your car passed! Congrats!

It's a 1976 Ford Elite. This style was made 1974-1976 and is frequently referred to as a Torino even though the correct model designation is just plain Elite. Pursuant to a car guy of some stature, I ordered Marti Report and learned it's fairly rare - technically speaking it's a one-off car. Triple Black with a 460 cu.in motor (not too many of those were built - around 1,300 total) It still turns heads and the paint is in VERY good shape - it's not unusual to find a "would you be interested in selling you car" note on the windshield which makes me feel good.

My Sister had a Torino when I was in High School. It was probably in 1980 so it was an older model. It was a great looking car though.

My Mom had a Ford Elite when I was a kid. Most people have never even heard of it. I had to find pics online to show Mister what I was talking about one day when we were talking about cars our parents had when we were growing up. I don’t think my Mom had hers long, but I clearly remember her dropping me off and picking me up from school in it when I was in 7th grade. It was white with dark blue trim. My kid brain thought it was one of the ugliest cars ever lol. I can’t recall ever seeing another one on the road since then. I always just assumed it was an unpopular car because it was so fugly.
