I heard on the radio that another soap, I think it was The Guiding Light, will end in January. How will the nation survive this horror?

I was watching on the news how book stores are closing. Started to think what is left from when my Grandmother was a young adult that is still around? or my parents when they were in their 20's?
I figure I'm in that boat now - that things I grew up with are going.
My Grade schools are gone and High School is gone.

The two being cancelled are AMC and OLTL (One Life to Live). "Erica" better hurry up and get hitched to "Jack" before the final curtain comes down. (But now she's been kidnapped - yet again).

There's also rumors buzzing that Susan Lucci might move onto Wisteria Lane and join the cast of Desperate Housewives.

so...how many times has Erica been married? I watched AMC and GH for years when I Iworked split shifts. OLTL was secondary, but I did watch it.

and As The Stomach Turns...I worked with a woman who had a very strong resemblance to Harvey Korman in a dress. She still inspires me to exercise because she was very short waisted (so am I), and I never want to look like that!!!

What's the show that has Dietrich from the old Rat Patrol series. Everytime I see him I have a mental image of him in a tank turret trying to catch Troy and the others. They got a lot of mileage out of some of those stunt scenes they set up with the explosions.

In high school, I was obsessed with Luke and Laura on General Hospital. But I never got into any other soap operas, and I haven't watched General Hospital in probably 25 years. (Did I miss anything?)

Molly, I think Luke & Laura made a recent return. Not sure if they are still there or not. Remember Richard Simmons on GH? And Rick Springfield. And Demi Moore (she had much smaller boobs). And John Stamos.

When I was in grade school, some teachers would bring in their portable tvs and watch their soaps while teaching kids, or lack of teaching. This one teacher told us not to ask any questions unless we really needed to. We made her day by asking one question after another just to bug her. She took away our recess time for it.

The Guiding Light and As the World Turns have already stopped airing. I haven't watched soaps since about 1990, but those were 2 that I watched.

I loved AMC and GH when I was a teenager, OLTL wasjust okay. I haven't watched soaps in years, but I LOVE vegging on the couch when I'm sick and watching soaps. Sick days won't be the same. First Bob Barker retires, now this.

I suppose it's time for change and to get people of their bums and moving about.

I like OLTL a little but that about it. I can do without it though, and it seems with all the outcry over this ending these two soaps, I think ABC might reconsider their about ending them. It's not just the actors that will be losing their jobs, but all the people behind the scenes, gaffers, best grip, writers that will all be out of a job as well.

I'm not sure they will do well as reruns, but i must admit, i would like to see the Luke and Laura episode where she accused someone of raping her and the Cassidine episodes with Elizibeth Taylor. I never got to see any of those, but from what I have read, they were pretty awesome in their time.
