Robinhood, the stock ipo

My wife has been trading on the app for eight months now. She is a novice as far as trading stocks on her own.
On our portfolio is where we come to an agreement on a regular basis, and we usually talk on what we do with our portfolio.
She said she wanted to play around on her own with some, shall we say, fun money on her app account with Robinhood.......
This morning she told me she put in a limit order at $33.50 yesterday.
Opened at $38, and she just had the limit order confirmed at $33.50.........
Now she wonders if she put a sell order in at $38 and call it a day.
Thoughts? Is HOOD  a longer term play or just quick in and out play?

FYI, she is not a daytrader type but does trade in and out of a few stocks usually holding 3 to 10 days. Myself I am a longterm holder type........

I just don't see how a company with around $550 million in revenue deserves a valuation of more than $30 billion.

My DGS has been trading on Robinhood for a few years.  He's made some money & is still sitting on some things he should have sold a long time ago...IMHO.  So we shall see what he did & if he made anything.

We now have a couple of trillion dollar stocks out there. At least they make money........
But who knows? Robinhood people have cost some billionaires some losses on their short positions this year. At the least, HOOD opened up shares of stock in the IPO to people who had accounts with them. That was how my wife got her shares on opening day, and she placed her preorder well below the $38 opening price that was set that morning. Gotta give them credit for allowing that to happen. Little guys never get the initial IPO price of the stocks with brokerage participation and usually wind up paying ten to fifty percent over the opening price when it skyrockets on the opening if they want in on opening day.
Gamestop was/is a joke, but there it is.....
AMC, well it does look like it is coming back to reality.....
Several other companies received new life with thei traders, rightly or wrongly
My wife? She still has the shares. Traded over $52 a share today. She says Let it Ride!

Well, it took off again this morning, but seems to have leveled off in mid to high sixty dollar range. 
Since the wife has a small number of shares, she continues to say, Let it Ride!
Myself I said sell half of them and play with the bank's money!
This probably will not end well for her...........
But what do I know.........I do know if you have a 100% profit return in less than ten days, it never hurts to ring the bell.

IPOs seldom make much sense to me at their opening day prices. I got interested in facebook and was waiting to see if it traded down to the $14 to $15 range. Obviously that never happened. 
I saw on finviz today the book value for share of is -$6.39 for HOOD but they have the revenue at $1.35 billion which is much higher than the article I read when I made the previous post. They have the Q/Q sales growth at over 300%. With that growth rate maybe a price to sales of 28.9 isn't too bad. I hope your wife does well with this company.

Closed at around $70 today and down a couple of dollars in after hours trading..........wondering if the bloom is off the rose, or will it still go up until the "shorts" can come in.

The finviz chart on the ARKK fund looks really interesting to me. It is a clear wedge pattern that could result in a breakout one way or the other.  finviz.com/quote.ashx?t=ARKK

Watched CNBC at 11 am central time. They were discussing al of the ARKK funds, and the thought was if the economy has peaked in growth these funds might lose favor.

I admit that is a big "IF" on the economy

I think it does give HOOD some legitimacy but not necessarily a floor. Because her fund invests in innovation stocks she is obligated to invest in that genre even if she thinks it may be a rough patch near term(I do not know if she shares that view). I would certainly give Cathie Wood opinions in this area more credibility than any of my own opinions. She is the pro and has demonstrated some success while I am just a armchair quarterback. 
For what it's worth I went ahead and bought into to ARKK at what is about 1% of my portfolio value. If it drops far enough I am willing to double down. I have no intention of selling any time soon. I have been watching this ARKK etf for some time now as a way to get a small exposure to some of these companies that I just don't feel comfortable picking and choosing between.

The stock closed today at $17.76. The stock peaked at $85 and went as low as $16.68. The one-year target estimate is at $41.66. All these numbers were from Yahoo Finance. Trying to figure out a stock like this really makes my head spin.
