Inspired by the men's wallet thread. I am curious how people carry their phones. Do they have cases, if so what, or are you an Otterbox or similar fan?
I want to buy something for my new Iphone, probably at least a slim otterbox, as I can carry it that way with my current phone. But I am new to the Smart Phone ownership experience, so please share your choices, and reasons.

This is similar to the one I have for my iPhone 11. Phone Case I have never had much success in applying the adhesive-type screen protectors, so this one appealed to me because the screen protector is actually a part of the case, not something that needs to be stuck to the screen (and which always has bubbles and voids when I do it). It does not interfere with the touchscreen function of the phone, and the case seems sturdy, though it is, of course, not as sturdy as an Otterbox.

I have a silicone like Kate spade one I bought off Best Buy.com, and a similar one I bought on clearance on the Kate Spade web site. I use it at home when I take my phone out of the Bandolier case at night.
Speck is a good name. My DH liked the otterbox ones- he carried on his belt for awhile. I think now that phones are thinner he just keeps in his pocket. If you keep it in your purse, and are not prone to dropping it, you don't need as high quality a case. Also the newer phones have better screens on them, so they don't scratch and chip as much.
I put my last screen protector (I have a Zagg one) on at home, often someone at Best Buy will do it for you, or the people that work at those little kiosks where they sell phone cases in the mall - if you buy it from them). My DD and her friends know some of the workers, so they know this stuff.

(Or maybe that's the purple Iphone showing through.)

That's beautiful. Are those purple and green Iphones? I haven't seen anything in person recently, and my carrier would not load most of the colors except black, red, and purple. How far did you drop it and onto what surface?

I'll post it later, but I saw an integrated Otterbox case which had a grip on the back that could also be used as a stand or pressed in. It looked useful although pricier than what posters are sharing so far.

OK, this is creepy. I hadn't even replied to this thread and MSN.com just showed me a banner ad for Otterbox cases on Amazon. I had one for my iPhone 5 and immediately bought one for my new iPhone 8 when I replaced the 5. Mine is in my purse most of the time but I do drop it on occasion and it's always protected the phone. I wish I could be a fashionista and have a case to co-ordinate with whatever outfit and nail polish color I'm wearing, but that's not me.

It looked useful although pricier than what posters are sharing so far. I don't ever use a stand on my phone. I have a case for my Voyager e-reader that stands. I only use that stand if I am reading at the table. I do like the protective case though - It is similar to an Otterbox in it's protective abilities. Otterboxes are considered Military Grade. It is probably overkill for what you want. Amazon has other cases that have stands that are not too expensive. I think the one Mitch Posted would be good. My Kate Spade one is similar to this, and about 18 months old. I like it b/c it is easy to put on/take off. www.bestbuy.com/site/kate-spade-new-york-protective-hard-shell-case-for-apple-iphone-11-cream-with-stones-hollyhock-floral-clear/6357363.p?skuId=6357363. If you go in the store to buy, note the internet price before you arrive - they will usually match the internet price. I got a really good deal on my Kate Spade one that way. I don't remember if I bought it from Best Buy or the Sprint Store but I remember they were shocked at how low a price I found on it.

I have the same, but I do switch out to the otterbox when we are doing something high activity outside (hiking, atv riding, etc). I was going to add something about how often I drop my phone, but did not want to jinx myself.

In my defense, I bought the Bandolier b/c I wanted to use my phone as a flashlight when I am walking the dogs at night and I don't have to worry about holding two leashes, my phone, and trying to pick up their leavings while they are trying to pull me away to whatever caught their interest. I have invested in some good quality phone cases with the rational that I was protecting a $1,000 phone. It is not like we live so lavishly that I can not spend $$ on things I want/need.

The iPhone 11 was available in what they called purple but was really a pale lavender. I got the purple iPhone because ... purple (even though I knew it was lavender).

I put mine in a thin, TPU style case. I don't want a lot of bulk on my phone, and I just need it to give it a little protection, and some grip. These all/mostly glass phones seem to want to fly right out of my hand. I have run these kinds of cases on my phones for years. I am pretty careful with my tech, but I have dropped my phone on concrete/off porches before and have never broken anything.
I also usually install a tempered glass screen protector, but my current phone has a slightly curved screen which makes finding one basically impossible so it is currently naked. I do have a non-glass protector somewhere but I've been too lazy to install it. No matter what I do I always mange to get at least one tiny speck of dust or bubble and it drives me crazy to look at.

I thought of you the minute I saw it. I ordered the IPhone in Red, because it matches my car and did not come in blue. The Otterbox came in blue though.

I am an Otterbox person. Never had a cracked screen or damage to my phone.
I also have a screen protector.

I think the 11+ either did not come in Purple or it was sold out when I got my Phone, otherwise, I would also have a Purple one. I plan to keep the current one I just paid off for a while before I get a new one though. Because...purple is perfectly understandable in my book.

I was joking! I agree- cheap price to protect something vital and expensive. I just get overwhelmed when I see the extent of phone case styles. When the case for my iPhone 5 broke, I went to 3 big box stores looking for a replacement but it was 4 years old- ancient in technology terms- and while they had every color, print, sparkle, image on phones for the 2 latest generation phones, I had to go on-line to buy the Otterbox for the 5. So, I suspect there are people who have a whole drawer full of cases.

Whatever case you get, make sure it does not interfere with wireless charging of the device, and if you buy a wireless charger, read the reviews to eliminate the ones that do not work reliably on phones in cases (they all say they do, but some do not do as well as others).

I can't find the case I have right now on Amazon, but it is a rugged plastic case with rubber edges. No screen cover, but I've dropped it lots of times and my phone is still perfect. I have a coordinating pop socket on the back that I got in my Christmas stocking. As long as your case is smooth in the middle back, you can stick on any pop socket you buy.

I have a Tucch wallet style case for my IPhone. I really like it better than the Otterbox one I previously had. It allows me to carry ID, money and a couple of credit cards around so I don’t need a purse.

I just saw this….and suggest you get a headlamp instead. I bought TD one for when he walked Harriet at night and it is the best thing since sliced bread. It lets you hold dog leashes and poop bags without needing a hand for a flashlight.
